Question about fluid film, I have some minor rust spots. I got my truck while I was in Florida and this past winter was its first. Any rust spots are no more than an inch long. Only a few bubbling spots. Should I prep before fluid film? If so, how? Is it worth it to do all that prep or will it be negligable with how minimal the rust is? I try to get under the truck every other week and spray paint any areas I see that I think may be a problem.

 

How many spots? Do you have a pic ? The hitch and part of the frame near the hitch on mine had rust, before the fall ff , I wire bushed and painted before I had it sprayed.

 

Just on the inside of the frame. These are some examples. Maybe 10 spots total like this just up and down the frame. I'm asking because Fluid FIlm lists "FLUID FILM will penetrate rust andrust scale to the base metal, loosening and easing in the removal process." So could I have it fluid filmed then washed off and painted before the next FF treatment?

Benefits of bringing the truck up from FL. Should have had it FF before the winter though

 

I would just FF the area well. If you can get to bare metal before paint that's good, but painting over rust scale is not helping in my opinion. If you are going to paint use something like por51.

My truck has 110k Northeast miles on it...not much for rust anywhere. FF since day 1
