Not bad at all if the sets are spaced. Too close and you just gotta slow down a bit. It's very light, and weight sensitive, but it gets me to the fish. I routinely fish the Coronado Islands, about 17 miles south of San Diego Harbor.

How do you tow that thing? Surely not with that Tacoma?

Almost time! How is loading that thing in the trailer? Iv only launched/recovered a narrow 15 footer from my own trailer. My current boat goes on and off the trailer on a lift now sadly.

I tow mine with my 1st gen. Don’t even have Trailer brakes. It hates going over 55 and cross country would suck, but back an forth to launch and haul is doable.AB554859-F3C3-4F40-9CAD-674BEABC3D6C.jpg

i tow it to my local lake (Jackson and maybe Yellowstone) with the Tacoma. It’s sucks for sure. But the boat/trailer only weighs like 3500 or so. It’s only 30 or so miles to the marina and at 40 to 50 mph it works, barley.

If I’m going anywhere else I borrow or tow with a friends truck that comes with sailing

Not too bad with a bit of practice! It’s got a swing keel, and the trailer extends 4 or 5 feet, so i day/weekend sail it and bring it back. Driving from the stern, obviously, with the mast and cabin all in the way, visibility is pretty bad to see where you’re at on the trailer (adding a strong cross breeze and waves leads to a few attempts) but after 6 or 7 launch/recoveries last summer I had the recovery figured out pretty well. I could lower the bunks 10” or so to make it easier but having access underneath is nice
I can step the mast and rig the boat and have it backing down the ramp in bit over 30 minutes, so it’s really not that bad

I don’t know how you tow with out brakess lol! I mean I have, and it’s terrifying! It just pushes the truck soooo much (a full size it does fine haha) I just bought a brake controller for the truck and all new wiring to change he trailer from a 6 to 7 pin for the truck so I can safely tow it from now on, also added a trans cooler, and have Chevy 63 springs so it handles the weight better than your average Tacoma

I was thinking more about cross-winds pushing the boat around (and the boat pushing the truck around); I've driven across that part of the country and some of the gusts kept you on your toes. But if you're sticking with local trips it's probably less of a problem.

I guess ive gotten really lucky, and not had to deal with that strong of winds while towing on those longer distance trips. The tandem axle is of course a huge life saver. It really keeps the whole set up from swaying. And the location of the bunks and weight distribution is spot on. Only scary bit is when I hit a big bump in the road and i fear the outboard might rip out of the transom lol

These boats look so goofy and huge behind the small Tacoma lol

I like it because of the tight turning radius. Makes backing it down the ramp a walk in the park!

Hauling it back up the ramp...less easy.

Although sailboats tend to be a bit lighter than similarly-sized powerboats, so you've got that going for you.

theres always enough room at the ramp....its the random parking lots and gas stations i always try to do 5 point turns in that i guess it comes in handy lol. my drop hitch is low enough i wont jack knife until i hit the trailer jack, so i can crank it like 90 degrees haha. yours is just so long and flat its comical looking.

I get to replace this entire bulkhead so i can sail safely (as you can see I already began stripping the interior). Fucking yippee. Not stoked. I want to sail when the lakes thawed, not perform major boat overhaul

I've decided that I'm getting my boat out of storage this weekend, even if I have to move it eight feet at a time on boards across the yard, lol. The itch has grown too strong to resist!
