I'm in the market for a new grill. (Food grill, not car grille) Anybody had any experience with PK? I just recently found out about these, seems as though they are more popular in the south. looks like a good alternative to the old Weber that could potentially have a longer lifespan at a slightly higher cost but with good smoking capability. Any first hand experience here?

I’ve had one for 15 years, love it. Very versatile and controllable.

Some pics when I rigged it up for smoking before I had a dedicated smoker, worked great but you don’t really need to do all this, just makes it more controllable as far as indirect heat...

Damn that looks good! Thanks for the info. Really just asking cause there aren’t any retailers around me and I don’t know anybody that has one. So I’m m either gonna have to commit and order one of these online or drive a couple hours to view one in person.

They’re worth it, will never rust, bulletproof. The 4 vents make it extremely controllable. Only reason I don’t use it all the time is because smoking full racks of ribs or a brisket can’t be done as well as in a Weber Smokey Mountain or whatever. Not enough room in the PK for big cuts like that AND indirect heat. That’s why you see in one of the pics a rack of ribs cut in half. But, unless you’re smoking for a few people, you could make it work. Full brisket is the only no. As far as a straight bbq setup, it’s top notch.

Yeah, it’d primarily be used for traditional grilling and the occasional smoke. They have made a new larger version, check it out if you haven’t seen it. I’ll probably get the traditional smaller one though. Thanks again!

I have seen the new one, 360 or whatever it’s called. Too much $ IMO. The classic is just that, classic, built like a tank, damn near flawless. Highly recommended as your primary grilling unit.
