I went with A1 and would do it again. As far as lines, when I was removing mine, I mangled the shit out of my high pressure line. Toyota sells both feed and return lines as one unit for around $230. I was able to buy just the high pressure line from Napa for around $80.

Drivers side is leaking on my truck, just noticed it yesterday. Seems pretty straightforward. Just have to find the time to do it!

I flushed mine with Valvoline Maxlife ATF + Maxlife Trans Stop leak before replacing my inner tie-rods. So far seems to have stopped the leak. Just trying to prolong my rack.

Was wondering the same thing about the bolt being cut below the AC pump... and don't do what I did..spend hours trying to get rusty lines loose where they hook up..cut them and order new ones from RockAuto for $83 ! Now I jus hope I can get the old unit out and the new one back in without doing all that extra stuff... here goes!

Good luck! I found it was easier to wrestle the rack in with the steering shaft input facing the front of the truck, and then rotating it 180° to line everything up once it was in.

Have had good luck with prolonging with lucas power steering stop leak...................on another note, about the serv manual instructions...........why would the driveshaft need to be removed? (not front diff one) Even for prerunner/RC it says remove propellershaft

Put a magnetic filter on the return line shortly before where it enters back to the PS reservoir. Real deal SAE engineers have published that this will keep your PS (and auto trans.) alive forever. A good inexpensive one is Purolator P1320 that can be found a Pep Boys on sale for around $10. And while you are at it get two and put the other on the ATF cooler where it leaves the heat exchanger up front on its the way back to the transmission.

This is what my boots look like now, res is still at minimum fill line without ever refilling it but I've lost all power steering.

Wonder if my pump is giving up too because it's not making much sense to me to lose hydro assist with such a small leak.

For what it's worth the whole pump is covered in oil from my timing cover leak.

How many o rings are there on the pressure and return lines? I replaced the two small o rings, but I found a larger o ring laying on the garage floor.

There should only be one on each line, very small.

Aren’t you supposed to mix the stop leak like 1:10 with atf?

However the bottle states, that's why I have a bottle of each.

UPDATE ** 5 years later. Still going strong. No fluid leaks. It hasnt given me any problems. However I did replace the outer tie rods twice since then. Also , I was having a clunk sound when turning one direction. Only briefly. Pulled the boots off to inspect the inner tie rods. There was definitely a difference between one side and the other. Some slight play in one of the inner tie rods when loaded axially. Noticed about 6 months ago. Hasn't worsened yet, but only a matter of time before I have to replace the inner tie rods. Whether you should replace the inner tie rods from the beginning is up to you. The inner tie rods may not be OEM. However you can buy inner tie rods of high quality.
