ive read that these remote filter relocation kits have tendencies to blow off the fittings sometimes which would be an utter mess and disaster, i would look into reading reviews and research thoroughly before using these, although they do sound like a good idea for the 2.7 engine. im starting to get used to mine since ive changed the oil since changing the oil more times.

I looked at these kits too for the same reason but read about the lines blowing off under pressure and that turned me off. I just did my oil 2 days ago I just barely crack the filter till the oil dribbles out of it, and then remove when it has emptied, although I did get some splash on the cross member, its just part of the 2.7 OCI deal, im getting used to it and it don't bother me as much as it did when I first got the truck.

I agree Nick, they are messy to get off. I would not use that kit though. Too many fittings that can leak over time or blow out as Bill said. You could always puncture a hole in it with an ice pick & let it drain for awhile. ;)

I'm not a fan of messing with the bulletproof factory oil system. The 2.7L oil filter is NOT hard to change, if you think it is you need to try changing oil on some other cars because some are a real bitch. Cut bottom off capped gallon milk jug, break the filter loose, put jug over the filter, spin the filter off with your free hand and all the mess falls into the jug. Wipe the surface off and install new filter and done takes 3 minutes no mess and plenty of room to work.

I have seen that. I like the canister type filters better. I’m not even that interested in the relocation kit but it’s a neat idea and was more just wondering if other people have done it.
