    I just ordered OME springs, part number CS010R (for rear 84-88 Toyota Hilux), the spring rate is slightly softer than the stiff ass trail gear 3" HD pack I have now, and these will move the front axle forward 1.5", helping eliminate the necessity of severe tubbing (my poor front tires have been eating my cab and fender for years now).

    From OME
    1979-1988 Toyota Pickup | 1984-1989 4Runner Rear Leaf Spring - Heavy 2.25" Lift by Old Man Emu (CS010R) Weight: 52.8000 lbs 285 lb/in 445 lb/in once overload leaves kick in
    5 + 2 leaves, remove the third leaf down from the top if too much lift

    Trail Gear springs are 320 lbs/inch and notoriously too short on most all of the Tacoma swaps I've seen.

    The longer (fixing the vertical shackle angle to the proper angle) and softer springs should both really make the ride much more bearable. I'll be installing mine in about a month.

    How's your front shackle angle right now? My rears have always been something of a mystery but they work every well even if the invert a wee bit on full droop.

    Yeah that's no good, puts it in that weird state where it wants to compress and elongate but elongating has extra stress cause the shackle has to be forced too.

    Wheeling trip today.

    Finally started working on my rear bumper. I think I want to lift the bed off to really weld the frame plates on well, so I'll have to do that the next time I work on it.

    Previously I had picked up a leather seat out of a 3rd gen 4Runner to swap the seats out, I knew the seat brackets were different but I thought I could at least swap the seats on the different brackets... Nope. The 3rd gen 4Runner seats are about 1.5" wider.

    So yesterday I traded my leather passenger seat from the 4runner for a cloth driver side seat from a Tacoma.

    Goodbye weird ass bench that didn't even slide anymore. Hello bench seat. :thumbsup:

    Went wheeling today. Used the bumper a few times, once when dropping off a 4' ledge, another time pulling my friend's second gen up a very muddy hill.

    Ended the day here https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/2420-kings-river-trail

    We started on Permanente (you can connect the two actually, something I'll do later this summer), but after cutting some overgrown bushes and trees that were blown over we turned around and hit the highway to go back 5 miles to Kings River. The trip was a birthday thing for some 5 & 6-year-old boys lol, the kids weren't all that interested in clearing trail. :oops:

    Anyways, 2 miles of the Permanente trail is good to go now. That gets you back to where the trails connect, I think the trails aren't bad after that, but not sure.

    Recently Ive been getting rather annoyed with not having enough USB charging ports while using my 12V outlet, charge the gopro, phone, and another phone for maps/APRSDroid and I was asking for something to die.

    On the later model Tacomas they actually have 3 12V outlets up front. I tried to source one of the trim pieces but haven't been successful yet. So here is a solution without needed to buy a trim piece at all.

    Here's the area we are going to work with. Front trim piece in front of the shifter already removed. Coin/Ash tray already placed aside as well.

    Here's where I drilled my hole, ended up fitting perfectly.

    This is the bit I used. It was a little too big, but the closest one I had. It works and you can't see it's too big. Definitely don't use a bigger hole saw. 1.25"

    At this point I was a little nervous because when I tightened the lock nut down it would strip before getting secure... Looking around my garage for a minute gave me the idea to use plumber's tape on the threads then retighten. Worked like a charm.
