Yep, I stumbled on a deal for a gopro clone that has a dashcam mode and easily mounted to that spot. Not as great as a purpose-built dashcam but 1080p recording that starts automatically with the truck for $35 works fine for me for now. :)

Every time my wife gets in my truck she says I need to take that stupid GoPro thing off.. I don't see it as a driver. She says it looks cheesy, I do agree, I wish it was a port add-on that could be excluded instead of just coming on it.

Anyone taken it off successfully? I don't want to break the windshield. Or have it look like something was removed.

I took mine off. It was in the way of installing my visor lights(for the fire department). Like others said, worked the razor blade up there and just slowly got it to peel off. I put go pro mount on the bottom of the light bar so I could still use it.

Was yours just attached to the glass? Or did it have the black piece they're mounting it to in the 18s? I'm thinking the razor blade on the black piece will scratch..

There is like a black coating on the windshield where it mounts. I left that. It did not scratch. I just needed the mount gone as it would hit the light, but that spot isn't where the LED's on my light shine through the windshield.

I’d probably just get a magnet attachment and put a magnet on there that says “because fuck you”..may be a little much for you tho :notsure:

I used the tool supplied with my Street Guardian to pry up the edge on one side. Slid tooth picks under it. Next day, pried it a little more until I could just pull it off. Then mounted the Street Guardian it its place. No big deal.

    Woohoo! Door Sill Protectors!
I also removed mine off my TRD Pro because I chose to put a dash cam in its place. I could not find an adapter solution that would allow the dash cam to fit in the GoPro slot. I used a plastic putty knife to pry up and remove the mount, a credit card to scrape off most of the residue, then Goof Off and my finger nails to remove the rest. I got 99% of it off and it was not as easy as I would have liked. It probably took my an hour and a half but it will be worth it to have the dash cam occupying that spot.
