Alright so we all know that urd hasn’t had a supercharger kit for the 2012-15 tacomas and it’s been driving us all crazy. We also know this is due to the air injection system. For the longest time, I swore it was the FUNCTION of the air injection system that prevented the supercharger from working. I sent gadget an email and it turns out it has nothing to do with the function, just the location. Here’s the email, and I quote:

“The 2012 has the air injection system. Toyota is putting the parts for that system in the places we are mounting a supercharger and intake system. If you want to relocate those components it will work fine.”

So it sounds just as simple as moving the air injection system somewhere else and voila, you can run a urd supercharger. Here’s the deal... has anyone already relocated their air injection system? If so, where? If not, why? And if it’s this simple, why hasn’t a lot of people done this already? I feel like since I haven’t heard if anyone doing this, it’s more complicated than what I imagine it to be.

I’ve seen this before, but this removes the AI system completely, doesn’t it? And I’ve also heard that people who have used this has had codes thrown because of it. If possible, I’d just like to know if anyone has just relocated the AI system instead of completely removing it. If not, then I’d use the above mentioned product as a last resort

Just remove air injection and use a resistor to trick the sensor

Is there any other systems beside the one made by Hewitt?

Currently, the Hewitt system will not work on 2013-2015, so I’m out of luck since I have a 14. Also, the system requires that you still have the AI system attached, so this again wouldn’t work. I just want to know if there’s any way of relocating the system or deleting it altogether:(

Supposedly the OVTune can disable it, in the OEM ecu. Disable it, and swap to the pre-2012 valve covers. Problem all cleared up.

@Torspd is it possible to delete the files with the OVTune, then run the UCON? If possible I plan on running the mk3 stage 3, and seeing it requires the 7th injector, it needs the UCON. Although I’d hate to pay the $500 for the OVTune just for getting rid of the SAIS and nothing else.

OVtune in theory should eliminate the need for uconn

@Jcyr from what I’ve been reading in the OVTune thread it can’t handle a 7th injector, and the urd mk3 stage 3 requires it

It requires more fuel but there are better options than a 7th injector. You could always get larger injectors and use the ovtune to adjust.

@Jcyr I still haven’t ran up on where it states the max injector size for the OVTune. And plus, Id think the 7th injector cools temps better since it’s placed beside the throttle body instead of closer to the valves, right?

No because larger injectors would have no bias.. there’s a reason serious boosted applications size up injectors they don’t throw one in the tb and hope it dispersed evenly. Guys at ov tune are super smart id message them and ask if they could help you increase injector size. If you’re worried about cooling down the line you could always add a meth injection to the tb..

I'll never need a 7th. Meth injection and ovtune work great for me.
