After registering a complaint on the Toyota website twice over the years and getting no response, I replied to a Facebook posting by Toyota USA a week ago, I got an immediate response!

Toyota issued me a case number and instructed me to take it to my favorite dealership for evaluation. I had taken it 3 years ago and the dealer said there was no TSB so basically live with it. 13 and below and now 16 and above have TSBs issued, and here I sit with the red headed stepchild of differential problems in a 14. Hopefully they will reset my backlash and be done with it for good!

My issue is the textbook problem mentioned in the 13 TSB. Howling between 45 and 60 during drift or decelarion, hit the gas and its quiet.

My does the same thing! I took it in and they replaced the diff. It was quiet for awhile but now it’s making the same noise...

Just got notified that they’re replacing mine too!

Bee-Rock, I see that yours is a ‘13, my situation was difficult because mine is a ‘14, not covered under any TSB. The other issue is the TSB was related to an open differential and mine is a E-locker.

I can’t say enough about how my dealership has worked with me anytime I had an issue.

Glad to hear! I may take mine in again and see if they will replace it...again. The noise has come back and now its even louder. Any clue where I might find a copy of the TSB?

I have a 14 with the e-locker. While mine wasn't making any noise, I had it re-geared at 41k. Zuk (who did the gears) found that the internal pinion bearing surface had some abnormal wear. I asked what could cause that and he said old/bad oil is typically the reason for the specific wear I had. I had replaced the factory oil at 1k with Amsoil Severe Gear.

Anybody that has had theirs replaced by the dealer hear what the cause of the noise has been?
