I've been looking at drop in liners like the worn out O.E.M one that came out of my 1999 Tacoma. My choices are limited. So far all I have found is one from Rugged Liner and Pendaliner. Any opinions are welcome. What I had fit over the rail, but the under rail looks clean. The photo was before the bodywork and paint job. The tool box isn't going back on.

    Thanks
    Guy

a lot of people on here got rid of theirs so you can probably get one for free or low cost by asking in the Buy/Sell/Trade section.

you did body work and paint? Might as well get a spray in liner to match the updated look of your truck

Your right. I’ve came a long way. The paint job in the bed looks so good I don’t want to cover it with anything. What would be cool is a color matched spray in.

I think you can pay a little extra to have them custom match it. just remember any dirt or spills will show in the imperfections of the spray-in liner. black tends to hide most junk :D

I have yet to see one of those that actually looks good in real life. The color never quite matches because of the way the rubberized liner refracts light. I'd just get the Line-X premium and be done with it. I have not felt an ounce of regret after having mine done.

    IMG_2314.jpg

I've been trying to give away the OEM liner from mine for months, with no luck. That thing is never going back in. When I pulled it out, there were rocks trapped underneath, as well as sand that had worn the bed ridges to bare metal in spots where the bedliner rubbed. In a humid climate that just seems like a recipe for a rusted-out bed.

Stains are a concern. I’m a beekeeper, and a substance they make called propolis sticks better than Gorilla Glue.

I have an OEM bedliner in excellent condition that I'll consider parting with. Where in Alabama are you?

I’m in Etowah county. If I go back to OEM I will get a new one,if possible. What are you replacing yours with?

you may even consider putting a thin layer of spray in the bottom and then use the plastic liner over top. that will at least get some protection for the metal.

and a new OEM liner (if they even make it) would set you back a couple $$$. buying someone's used good liner would be negligible.

Doesn't Pendaliner make the OEM ones for Toyota and other manufacturers, anyways? IMO, there's nothing special about the Toyota-branded ones.

We're practically neighbors. I live in Albertville and work in Crossville. I plan to spray in a Raptorliner myself.

Thanks,if pednaliner is of the same quality and fit as OEM I’d be happy. I can get a Rugged shipped in local,I’m just not sure of the quality. I talked to a guy that wasn’t happy with his Line
awsome Tacoma. I wasn’t aware of the Premium Line-X.

I checked out the link. You have a nice ride. I’ll have to check out Raptorliner. What’s the material cost? My painter might be able to spray mine.

Thanks, yours looks pretty clean even in the before shot, post up some current pics.

If you are doing the drop in liner, make sure the drains at the front of your bed are clear. It might be worth spraying a layer of fluid-film under the liner. Or at least putting a thick layer of wax under it and then not wiping the wax off... and then pulling the liner every once in a while to make sure there aren't damp leaves or other rust-promoting stuff under it. Like I said, I was shocked at how much crap was under mine when I pulled it.

You seem pretty set on a drop-in, but if I were you, I'd still at least price the Line-x just for kicks. The premium stuff doesn't stain or fade, and if you are standing in the back of the truck loading stuff, it's way grippier than the ridged plastic liners, especially if it's raining. Other than the couple hundred bucks extra, I honestly can't think of any cons.

It’s naked now. My painter wanted it to cure before the final wet sanding and buffing. I was already happy, but he said I hadn’t seen anything yet.
