I’ve seen a flare that’s been body worked become smooth. Sanding will probably take away that texture of the plastic. It actually looks better to me, I would want my flares/bumper sanded and repainted.

so its better to just buy a new fender and paint it as new? i was told by the person that will paint it that it looks that way because it has less clear coat than the rest of the truck

Pix? Line-X all four. My right front got scraped really bad, so I went with line-x.

If you want to paint, you may have to replace it. About $170 through Conicelli Toyota, @gunny1005 may be less. I’d check with a reputable body shop & line-x & see which is cheaper & quicker. The body shops in my area have no sense of urgency & after 6 weeks decided to check out line-x. The ol’ lady preferred line-x because of an overnight Road trip

The whole bottom of truck flares too has a texture coating supposed to prevent small rock chips...I think auto parts stores has that texture spray, then you color and clear.

you could also probably get away with 3M brand black Chip Guard, we used to use this stuff all the time in the bodyshop.. quick and dirty but works very well.

I have sprayed the bottom areas of other trucks and this stuff holds up great, I may spray my flares with it..
