I just finished installing my ditch lights and they are not working. I have an extra green wire coming off the switch I am not sure what to do with. I am not great with electronic/wiring stuff so go easy on me if I don't understand some terms. I found another thread with a diagram someone posted but it says to plug the green wire into the source and I really dont know what that means. Any help would be great, pics attached. RIGID DSS PRO lights and the switch came from SDHQ. Their website does not have wiring diagram and was not included with my order. I connected the RED to RED, BLUE to BLUE and BLACK to BLACK but left the green one alone since I had no clue where it went.

This is the diagram I found but don't understand

B55A9F90-0ED6-4AC6-B285-2A0FE7B3EEA8.jpg I think you may have messed up a little. I’ll attach an image I made but it’s from a harness that’s a little different but if you look at the descriptions it should help.
Basically your green connects to the power wire coming from your relay or fused power source.
You’re red #1 (my yellow/red #1) goes back to the relay telling it to essentially close and send power to the lights
Your red #2 (my yellow/ red #2) is tied onto a dash light power source to light the switch when dash lights are on. This wire is optional
    Black to black is ground
Basically you’re not sending any power to the switch the way you have it wired.

wait I dont have 2 reds though. So I should connect the green wire to the red one?

You do have 2 reds (#1&2) that’s part of the switch harness correct? Do you have a test light? If so check the wires coming from your relay harness (assuming it’s a harness) there should be 3 of them. Assuming there’s a black and that’s already connected to black on switch. Use your tester to see which of the 2 remaining wires has power. After you find that wire connect it to the green wire st switch. The remaining wire gets connected th red #1. Let me know how this goes for you.

I just saw your harness wire picture I missed it before. My guess (check it though) the red is power from relay if it has power connect it to the green wire.
If the red from harness is powered and connected to green the connect the blue wire from the harness to red #1 on the switch. Since this all isn’t from the same mfg don’t expect all the colors to match.

Got em working. I took the green wire from the switch and connected it to the red wire from the lights and it works. I left the red wire from the switch alone, not sure what its for but everything works fine.

The red wire from the switch is an option if you want to connect it to a dash light circuit so your switch lights up when dash light are on. The switch you got may not even have this option but the harnesses are universal either way. Glad you got them workin.

The switch light stays on all the time, should I worry about it draining my battery?

Yes I’d be concerned about that. Most switches have a light that indicates that the accessory light is on along with another bulb that lights up when the headlights are on. I’d pull the fuse on it until you figure the wiring out.

I think you have the power supply hooked to the power outlet side of the switch. A constant power supply on that side of the switch will light the bulb that would come on when lights are turned on. Yes the lights will work as the switch is closing the circuit. This could eventually damage the switch

I hear ya there. I’m certainly no expert just picked up a few things over the years. Household wiring anything above connecting sn outlet or switch I’m lost. You’ll get it!

Did you ever figure it out? I have the same switch and somewhat of the same problem. I really want the switch to light up with the other ones. I when testing i was using fuse spots that would come in with my key turned on, but the switch light comes in too. I just can't figure out how to tie into the light switch easily and I want to try not to splice. If I had to splice i would solder it back together for the best fix result.

    This.
"source" is 12V positive w/fuse. Red1 is what the switch connects that source to. Red 2 is dash light power for the led. Black is ground for both leds, connect it to dimmer ground to have the leds dim with the dash lights. Red2 and black have no effect on the switch function, only the LEDs.
