I would do it myself, with the disk shown above, only difference I am using is the grinder, I only cowrk with paddle switch grinders, usually they are more expensive except with HF, they are $30 ..... and they last forever!

My 1995 has Line-X, and short of a few dings it's held up pretty well. I'd go with Raptor if I were to do it again. Super easy to do, and the results are the same.

Went there yesterday, what a chore to take the old liner off. A nightmare of sorts. He finished the tailgate removal and the bare metal is mint (no rust). The rest of the bed has been started and will take many hours to complete. Two guys are working on it. Due to bad weather (rain/snow) we are having the next 3 days, I will be getting it Weds next week. Well worth the 600, when Rhino and Line-X both want 550 or so just to spray the liner. Two places I called wanted 800-1200 just to remove the old liner

Well guys, my truck is still not done. I went there 2 days ago and still the same story. Going there is person tomorrow. Telling him done or not done my truck is leaving there next Tuesday because I start work Wednesday morning. Guy does great work, but have my truck 9 days so far is not cutting it for me...I still have no idea if the old liner was completely removed as of yet. Worst case, I want him just to remove the old liner

This is pretty typical for the lower bids. It's not knocking the guy or anything, but sometimes you'll get a job that's not a "rush" so they let it sit in the corner and they do a little work on it here and there, like in between other jobs. While they got the paint drying on another job, they spend a few minutes sanding on this one.

So they probably only have a couple hours of billable hours on it, but that's 10 minutes here, 30 minutes there, etc...

Agree 100%...he's dealing with the money makers, and mine is not one of them. Problem is I made my appt 3 weeks in advance and we are going on 10 days today. I work out of that truck. I have a wake today and after I will be going over to see him around 3:00 today

Yeah, just because he's doing yours on the cheap, doesn't mean he doesn't have a deadline. He probably has a day's worth of work to take off the old stuff, and spray the new stuff. So he still has time. Just keep on him.

Just left his place. I walked in and he had that look of "I'm sorry". We spoke about 15 minutes and I told him what I felt in a respectable manner and that I would even help him remove the liner. With 2 guys, about another 4-8 hours to remove the rest and prep for the spray. He was cool, but at the same time he knew I meant business and I even showed him the 600 that was going to him. I know things happen, but all I request is a phone call if your going to be late. I pay instantly, I would like the same service when given as many days as I have given

What a disaster..., there was a reason why not one shop would touch my bed. Way to much work involved to remove old liner. I actually had 2 liners (one over another at some point). Spent 5 hours at his shop today. It was a living hell. He has another 2-3 hours himself left then he will spray it with Scorpion liner tomorrow. Will let it cure a full 3 days. Only one guy was willing to remove the old liner for a $1200 cost.

Went back today and he is finishing it. It's in the direct sunlight and he is using a chisel to get the floor completely stripped to the metal. Will be finishing up with the cleanup and final details before it is sprayed tonight. There were 2 coats like I said before and whoever put the 2nd coat on it was never ever prepped. Lot more work than he ever thought and he will never ever be doing it again for anyone.

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow that he had it. So with cure time I will be getting it Thursday night. What should have taken only two days to remove and prep and 3 days later picked up, but sometimes it doesn't go your way

My question is why would anyone have to redo a spray in bed liner? Aren't they a one time deal? A paint job, done right will last almost forever. I know, I did them. Why would a spray in bed-liner ever wear out or peel unless it was applied improperly with shoddy prep work or there was some kind of serious abuse that caused it to wear out like constantly sliding "freight" in and out of the bed such as a work truck type situation??

Even Line-X says they don't last forever, but you hit the nail on the head with the reasons why. Either bad prep, abuse, or cheap material.

@vettehigh glad you're getting it back!

Is there a bed-liner that a do-it-yourselfer can apply that will be as durable as one done by a shop?

Thanks. I'll keep Raptor in mind. My truck has had a shell on it since it was new with one of those plastic bedliners. I'm going to take everything off one day and see how the paint is doing under neath. I suspect that after 14 years there may very well be some areas where the paint has worn through and I'll get a spray in bed liner once I see what is under there.

Got it back from the scumbag last week. It's peeling already. He did a scam job and cost me $600. I went to the authorized Scorpion dealer today (30 mins from me) and they will be removing the old liners and spraying via high pressure next week for $800. They are Carstar and are bonded with Scorpion. No worries there for me. I called Scorpion and they told me that he sprayed my truck with the DIY basic coating. He just sprayed it and it looks awful too. Also, I asked him twice for a receipt and he refused. If he wants to go there, he will lose and lose hard with me
