Has anyone traded down from a 2nd Gen to 1st Gen?

I'm curious if there are any people out there who went from a 2nd Gen to a 1st Gen? I'm honestly contemplating it for several reasons, although in this situation the Tacoma would not be the primary daily driver like it is now.

My initial thought was to look at trading in toward a new(er) large crossover (think Atlas, MDX, TDI Q7, etc), but I think I would get frustrated by the lack of utility again (i.e. difficulties in hauling larger items with car seats installed in second row) like I had with the 4Runner.

Now I am leaning more toward an economical sedan or smaller SUV/CUV for daily driving while picking up an older Tacoma as a 3rd vehicle. Bonus to find an access cab that could still squeeze those car seats in the event the truck was needed to haul them somewhere. I think I would also get more use out of a 6 ft bed than the 5 ft on the double cab I have now.

Another consideration is a decently priced sedan plus an older Tacoma might fall close to the equity I have in the truck so I could possibility eliminate monthly payments. Not a deal breaker either.

    So many choices.

*search* and ye shall find plenty of posts.

if interior room is your goal, 1st Gen ye not want.

you can fit an "old school" car or booster seat in the AC but not modern seats that are ginormous.

quad cab you can fit them but you lose a foot of bed length.

Jus get a 1st gen xtra cab (same as access)..has a 6ft bed and you wont have to worry about hauling car seats. At least you can haul more stuff in the bed and have an excuse not to let your wife take the kids somewhere when you need the damn truck.

I guess it just depends on what you value. If you value a little extra money in your pocket, a smaller truck, and more 'simplicity' then the first gen would probably do most of what you need. If you value creature comforts, larger interior, safety features, and a more modern truck, then the 2nd gen is probably best.

I traded down from a third gen 2016 to a 1st gen 1995.5 because I realized I didn't need most things in my turd gen. I'd rather have the simplicity and $$$ in my pocket for mods and trip expenses.

    *ahem*

I believe you mean has anyone traded "UP" from a 2nd gen to a 1st gen

Although I do think the one thing that 2nd gens have over 1st gens is the ability to get the double cabs with a manual transmission. Oh, and lower ball joints that aren't nearly as likely to fail and kill you
