I live in the North East. I don’t want to modify the clutch fan. It’s great when it’s 100* out. Not so much when it’s -10*.

Much easier to just adjust the controller for the electric fan as the seasons change.

I guess I’ll just do the rad and FJ shroud and see how that goes.

You install your flex a lite fan, on your first off roading trip 2 miles away from all cell service when BAM your electric fan turns into a bon fire and your engine bay is going up in flames, you shut your eyes from all the smoke burning them then you wake up the morning and your truck is still in the driveway with it’s stock fan clutch. Then you get on tw to tell that asshole who gave you night terrors he’s a dick :D

I see where you’re coming from. It would be neat to modify a diffferent vehicle’s oem electric fan. I think those would be a bit higher quality parts for some peace of mind. Or heck you could get the flex a lite and have no problems for 2 years like some people.

That’s an idea too. I’d have to find the right vehicle to rob one from.

Is there a wait for these rads now, or does Gadget have them in stock and ready to go?

I have not heard good reviews of flex a lite fans, I would recommend a SPAL fan setup.

    Radiator installed yesterday.

Drove from LA to Vegas in the middle of the day. Scan gauge showed average coolant temp of 182, 188-193 previously (170 t-stat). Ambient temp was high 80s.

Nice. I want to do this, but it seems they’re sold out everywhere.

I’ve left two messages for Gadget about buying one now. No reply.

@Lucario Runner reported this to me, about his CSF radiator.

Quote, "Can confirm new radiator can keep temps consistent in high 170s. Trans temps are also consistent in the green. Tested on track for a good 20 minutes."

Ah, keeps the trans temps down too. That'll be nice when I finally get it installed.

I agree. Just this last Saturday it was only ~90F and with all the stop and go traffic on the freeway my trans temp kept spiking up and down. Pretty much have to shift out of overdrive in these situations and it seems to help. Still with the AC on temp rises a lot compared to turning it off. Maybe I won’t need a bigger trans cooler with this rad after all.
    :fingerscrossed:

    Skip the flexalite junk..

    Do this:
    1. Buy Lincoln Mark VIII fan https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/123068019389

    2. Buy DCC fan controller http://www.dccontrol.com/relay_controllers.html

    3. Read this http://forums.tccoa.com/6-general-tech/136722-ultimate-mark-viii-fan-thread.html#/topics/136722

And you end up with this.

    20180217_093653.jpg

Still working on the shroud cover and controller box, but it will be a slick setup. Low speed for crawling, high speed for quick cool down and back road towing.
