I bought this for my Tacoma when I lost one of the original keys and needed to re-program a replacement. I ended up not using it. It's still in the original packaging. I bought it on Amazon for $15 two years ago. Had about 30 reviews and 4 stars at the time.

Send me $7 for shipping and I'll pass it along to someone who may need it.

These are the instructions for how to use it:

    1. Insert key into the ignition and turn to the 'run' (not start) position.
    2. Insert the dongle into the OBD II port. It will do a series of beeps until it lets out a long, continuous beep. (Note, some vehicles don't beep). Watch for the anti-theft light to be on solid. (usually in the instrument cluster or by the radio)
    3. Unplug the dongle from the OBD II port.
    4. Remove the key from the ignition.
    5. Reinsert the key into the ignition for 5 seconds or so, BUT DO NOT TURN IT.
5.a If programming multiple keys: remove the first key, insert your second key for a few seconds (DON'T TURN IT), repeat for a third.
    6. When finished cycling in keys, remove the last (unturned) key from the ignition
    7. Reinsert the key and flip back and forth between the 'off' and 'run' position 10x to close the programming cycle.

To the guy who bought the Smart Key maker. Did it actually work? Were you able to program a key?

Didn't worked for me, I have a 2014 taco and it doesn't work for it, had to pay a locksmith at the end. Same deal stands, pay for shipping and I'll send it over
