Had polenta with carmelized onion, mushrooms, and chard (sautéed with garlic). Asparagus on side. Polenta had some white cheddar mixed in.

    Help!!

For all the things I feel I can cook well, white rice is NOT on the list!! Try as I might, it’s too mushy, or too dry. I’ve googled and watched YouTube....to no avail for consistent results. :annoyed:

    What say y’all??

We put water/rice in pot at a 2/1 ratio. Stir once to loosen then cover and bring to a boil. Turn burner to lowest setting until all water is absorbed but before it burns. There will be a cratered appearance to the surface where bubbles percolated up. Tilt the pot from side to side gently to confirm no water left.

Do not open lid while rice is cooking lol

1 cup rice, 1.25 cup water. Stir. Bring to boil. Stir. Lower heat. Cover. 21 minutes. Pull off heat and let sit for a few. Fluff it up.

It probably depends on the rice also, but from what the Jasmine rice recipe on the back of the large 25lb pack. Im pretty sure it says 1.25 cups of water per cup of rice, dont add rice yet, bring water to a boil, then add the rice...stir after it boils once. Then cover and simmer on the smaller burner for approximately 15-17 minutes.

What I do is cover the rice with the lid tilted on the sauce pan/whatever it is called, for about 10 minutes, then cover tightly for the remainder of the the cook time. then let it sit for about 5minutes with the burner off then stir and serve.
