Just not sure what to do about the lugs yet..... any ideas? I don’t think plasti dip would last on them.

 

Thanks! Lots and lots of coats of plasti dip. It’s just a little off from the color of the truck but I think it’ll look okay!

Best bet would be to buy anodize colored lugs. Or else you touch them up every single time they come off the wheel.

I dipped the wheels on my mazda3. They didn't last through getting a new set of tires out on. Peeled right off. Can't imagine what mud holes would do to it

 

They sell em in black....I'd hate to have to buy 24 more, but that may be the simple solution...

 

If you don't use the OE nuts...just make sure you use a shank/washer type.

You can not use acorn type nuts with those wheels either

I purchased some lugnuts from SCS and they are really nice. Coating holds up alot better than the Gorilla brand I previously had. Or heck just take yours somewhere and have them blasted and powder coated.

 

I wonder if bedliner rattle can would work? I still have 2 cans left of that from painting my sliders. Or do u think it would make the nut too big diameter wise for a socket or lug wrench?

"Toyota" oem lug nuts are steel with a chrome "shroud" or outer skin...They tend to swell on their own. In original form, a 21mm socket fits them (The style used on TRD wheels anyway) By the time they've been ran on and off with an impact a few times, it takes a 22mm. They just don't like impact wrenches.

Not sure how coating them would work out...nor using a bigger socket.

 

Hell, just spray paint them and let them sit in the sun or throw them in the over for a bit. As long as you have a good fitting socket I'd imagine it won't do any if much damage. Even powder coated ones Mar some when you take them on and off but because they are recessed you don't really see it. Just do a good job cleaning them and use a high quality spray paint.

 

Torque em, then weld em. Done.

 

So after 13 years in a Tacoma, I've went to the dark side. Bought a 2018 Ford F150. I've needed a full size for awhile and the Tundra just doesn't do it for me.

 

U shoulda got a Chevy!! I understand though, sometime I wish I had my old full size especially for hauling shit!
