Well....my newest bow is a Mathews LX. Basically a 13 year old bow that split a limb in '13. Even though Mathews replaced the limbs the bow just hasn't been the same. Decided this year i would go all out and get a new set up. Went to Lancaster Archery this morning just to shoot a few bows and see what's what. Told the tech guy "I'm looking for a bow that's 32" axle to axle, 7"-ish brace height, 60-65lbs, and shoot a 420 grain arrow at a minimum of 70 fps. So we went to the bow racks, I was interested in the Elite Ritual, Mathews Halon 32 and the Bowtech Reign 7. They didn't have any Halon 32's nor would they be getting any more in. They did have a Hoyt Hyperforce. Got the bows set up, not impressed with the Bowtech, nice bows just didn't feel right. Next was the Elite. I really really wanted to like the Elite. And I did. Not wild abou the draw cycle, little stiff. Nice valley, solid hard stop, easy to let down. Bow was dead in the hand at the shot. Then I shot the Hoyt. Same draw weight, waaaay smoother draw. Nice back wall, easy to let down. Not as dead in the had as the Elite but pretty close. I spent two hours shooting both. The more I shot the Elite the more I noticed that I was fitting myself to the bow, whereas the Hoyt fit like a glove, like I'd been shooting it for years. Didn't have a chance to chrono it but it should be around 275-280 and very quiet.

So here's the new toy. Looking forward to spending time getting to know her.

Hoyt Hyperforce 62Lbs, 28-1/2" draw, 6" brace, 32" ATA. QAD drop away, Axcel ArmorTech Sight.

I really like the ingenuity on the pic ... well done..

I’m gonna do that with mine...

    I shoot an old Hoyt.
Can’t afford a new bow so I’m not shooting anything other than mine.
Archery pro let me shoot a new Hoyt while my bow was down at his shop.
I shot it once and put it back.
If I had put a second arrow through it I would have bought it.
    Not gonna take the bait..

There are many "budget bow" that perform as well as the more expensive advertised bows. A couple of years ago i bought a new PSE Brute Force for $450 new. It came with 3 pin sights, quiver and QAD drop away rest. I've had 6 or 7 PSE's over the years and one Hoyt. I think this is my favorite.

Let the summer games begin!! $20 of PVC pipe and fittings. No more laying the arrows or bow on the ground. Used 1-1/2 sch 40 PVC for everything except the bow hanger. That's 1" sch. 40. It's all glued, but I might run some self tapping screws in at the tee that holds the tall vertical pipe.

Anybody use a PSE Bow Madness Epix? Looking at one for a first bow to get me back into archery. Also looking at the Hoyt Powermax. I don't really want to go over $800 for everything.

All PSE and Hoyt bows are good. Get the one that is the most comfortable to shoot for you. I have had Hoyts and PSEs and PSE seem to fit me better.

I have both a pse bow and a Barnett crossbow. I enjoy shooting the pse bow more than the crossbow. But hunting I prefer a crossbow for the fact you can get a shot off much easier and without standing that can determine you downing the dream buck or not...

^this. Plus i've shot multiple deer from my tree stand sitting down with my compound. Crossbow is definitely easier, but if you practice enough with a compound for all situations (i.e. - sit, stand, crouched, different angles, different distances) it can be just as easy.

Same. I have a crossbow mainly for my nephews to use and then when my kids get old enough they will be able to use during early bow season.

I gave my 21 year old brother my old bow, a 2008 Bear Element, and took him shooting for the first time this weekend. He is hooked! Luckily, the bow did not need much tuning to fit him. He is also a really good shot. He was shooting well enough at the static range that he wanted to go out and try to shoot some 3-d. I had him shooting from the blues, and he was shooting really well - all 8s and 9s, and some 10s! Really excited to have him getting in to archery.

That is really cool you are doing that. I inherited my bow from my older brother that passed away a year ago. I had only shot one time ever in my life when I was a kid (37 now) and never thought much of it. Decided to start shooting his bow and got hooked instantly, now preparing for the upcoming season in WA/ ID. Luckily he left me a nice Hoyt Trykon 75th anniversay that is quiet and powerful.

It's a great sport to pass on to and enjoy with anyone, and an even sport to share and enjoy with family. Sorry to hear about your brother. I am sure he is looking down on you rooting for you to take a big one this season.

@Wicker24 I am jealous that you get to hunt in Washington and Idaho. It's a goal of mine to get out West and hunt sometime soon.
