I searched for this subject but I didn't see anything. So here I go.

Those of you who know the features of the 17 Tacoma, I would like an alarm system installed with an automatic start. I would rather NOT carry to fobs.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks in advance.

Hey, from what I've been reading it all depends on whether you have the push to start button fob, or a standard keyed ignition. If you have the push to start, there are two write ups in the the stickied thread "3rd Gen Mods & Tips":

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/detailed-review-nickjs-kbvoodoos-remote-start-kit.465105/
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ing-oem-fob-2017-tacoma-push-to-start.466230/

    Hope this helps!

    ***EDIT***
I realize now this doesn't solve the alarm issue, but it gets you half way there.

    Yes it’s possible.

See a local alarm installer. Late model vehicles are a bitch and you’ll want their warranty to back up whatever system is installed.

Thanks for the info. You are right about the warranty. I need an alarm in the truck and I actually have no idea what it means on the windows sticker "Toyota Alarm".??

There is also a hood latch sensor. It'll blare the horn if armed and you open the hood.

Loud as hell if you're leaning in searching for the latch, lol.

Here's an easy test... It happened to me the other day....

I was friggin' around under the hood and the ole lady said lunch was ready.... I locked the truck and dropped the hood to the first click, so when I come back, I just have to raise it and keep friggin' around where I left off...

I came back and lifted the hood..... HOLY SHIT MAN...!!! The horn blasted like crazy..! I had to find the FOB to shut it up..!

    It works..!

Quick question. Would an after market alarm system void any type of warranty?

Short answer, no. See Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
