I have an ‘09 Tacoma, with what I believe MAY BE a torque converter going bad. It’s progressively gotten worse.

When in "D"(overdrive), shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and then from 3rd to 4th, usually regardless of speed or throttle, it makes a terrible shudder(similar to driving over a cattle guard). It does not do it if I manually swap it to "4". When the problem started, it would only do it every now and then, and it progressively got to where it does it 99% of the time.

If I give lite pressure on the brakes, while maintaining throttle during the shudder, it immediately stops.

On very rare occasions, it will hesitate when given throttle from a complete stop; that issue has not worsened over time.

I know it's near impossible to diagnose things over the internet, just looking for opinions.

    TIA.
