First time I did this was with my 98 Ranger. So much smoke! They tell ya make sure you keep the truck running cause if it shuts off while you're doing it, it may not crank back up.

 

I’ve used seafoam on numerous cars. I always used the PCV line but the brake booster hose is good too (and larger). The engine will sputter while slowly pouring the seafoam into the line. I always stalled the engine with a big pour of the last of the bottle so the seafoam sits in the cylinders for a bit to dissolve the buildup. After a bit, start that fucker up and watch the smoke show. There’ll be a lot of smoke/fumes while treating the engine so don’t be alarmed and be in a well ventilated area.

Up to you if you want to stall the engine with it...I never had any problems.

 

You doing the cabin filter, too? Mine finally got to the point where knocking the dust out of it wasn't cutting it anymore. Time for a new one.

I didn’t know we had a second air filter.

 

Inside the cab behind the glove box is your cabin air filter and it’s not cheap.

 

I knew about one and definitely need to get around to change it, but I thought he was talking about another one that affected the idle.

Not mine but this site has all the pertinent data.. I know somewhere I found a nice maintenance service interval layout..please hold

 

Take the primary out there is a foam filter element plastic riveted to the air box. I just took like a 1/8" drill bit and slowly drilled the head of the rivets off and took it out there is a thread abt it somewhere on here

Different that's for HVAC im talking abt engine air filter

 

No I haven't kept them on hand or changed them. I buy the engine oil filter packs (OEM) with drain plug seals though. I don't replace them everytime, just every now and then.
