So I used search but didn’t see anything so if it is already there for reference, let me know. So I got drawn for Elk out in Arizona and with the probability of a longer shot, I have an exciting use to go buy a new rifle. Yeah me! So with that I purchased a Tikka T3 Lite in 300 WinMag. I’m going to have the barrel threaded and want to add a muzzle brake so that the gun should be enjoyable to shoot. I’m starting to research them but want to ask around for opinions on ones you have used in the past and had good luck for hunting purposes.

Get a gill break that's ported on the top, a good scope, rangefinder, and kestrel would be a better investment though.

With a Tikka T3 in 300 Win Mag, a brake isn't really an option if you plan on target practice, trust me lol. With 300WSM you would be fine. I've heard good things about Surefire and the Miculek style brakes but haven't had the opportunity to test them out. Hope that helps! Oh and do yourself a favor and replace your recoil pad with a limbsaver if it's one of the hard factory ones. Helps just as much as a brake.

A buddy of mine got a Thompson Center something or other in 300WM, he said the brake he put on it made a night and day difference.

When I see him this morning I'll ask him what it was and report back.

    Edit:

He's using the .308 Lantac device.

What part are you talking about, the muzzle brake or the recoil pad? And you say you do have a muzzle brake on yours. I was talking about target shooting with a completely stock rifle. No brake, no aftermarket pad.

This is my old 300 ultra with a gill break.

Tamed it down significantly, but it still wasn't fun to shoot more than 10 times in a sitting.
