    hello all,

i have a 2004 extended cab, long bed stock tacoma with a four-banger engine.
the only mechanical work that's been done is installing titanium spark plugs, flushing the
radiator, a front end alignment and oil changes.

a month ago it started making high pitched squeeking noises when it wants to.

i took it to a mechanic and he said that it needs rear leaf spring bushings and shackle kit,
    front and rear shocks.

i live on a limited income and the prices i was quoted for this work was $700.00 - $1,200.00.
i know that we're in an inflation, but is it REALLY that bad ?

i live in the 92627 zip code. does anyone on this site live around there or know where i
    could get better pricing ?
    yes, i tried Geek.com...

    thank you.

The $700 price isn't all that terrible. It's probably $300-600 in parts, depending on which brands you choose, plus $80-100 for an alignment. There is a ton of activity in that general area on the Socal regional forum. I wouldn't be surprised if you could find someone there that would help you out with labor for super cheap.

assuming your getting all OEM or equivalent stock suspension parts, ~$700 for everything installed sounds like a good deal to me....$1200 is on the high end.

Figure ~ $300 for the leaf springs + bushings/shackles and another ~ $300 or so for stock front suspension (not sure if your getting new front coils or not but you probably should if they are the original ones). Add labor onto that and I could see it being close to a grand for everything, all said and done.

If it makes you feel better, my front shocks/coils alone were $1,000...and I installed them myself. But they're performance aftermarket (Kings).
