What lift or leaf pack is needed for the rear of a longtravel build, the front seams fairly simple but I have no idea about the rear, don't really want to put a big shock tower frame in the bed either any info because I just got the money to start my build and don't know where to start in the rear.

    google "Tacoma SUA kits"

DMZ is probably to most popular right now, I have a Total chaos without complaints.

If you don't want to go through the bed with a shock tower / bed cage, your going to want to look into a(again google this term) "tacoma rear shock relocation"

Here is a good thread to keep up with:

No...you need to convert the rear to spring under if you want to get any travel worth a damn assuming leafs are what you want. That said, if you did go the DMZ route, he does make a bolt in bed cage now for a price so it takes away some of the fab work by that being available.

As @excorcist stated, there are many leaf packs out there for our tacomas with DMZ being the most popular. This a basic list of what I know in regards to Tacoma rear SUA kits.

    1. DMZ SUA (weld on, which is good if you box the rear as bolts wont come loose if burned on)
    2. Camburg SUA (bolt on)
    3. Giant SUA (bolt on)

Linked rear set ups, this will yield more travel but will likely cost more in fab as you have to reinforce things much more and require arms.
    1. Dirt designs 3-link rear
    2. TC rear with custom fab needed
    3. Custom link rear through shop

Im sure others will chime in with other info.

I agree with @Coot83. Read the long travel sticky thread at the top of the LT section. Make sure long travel is what you truly want. Also, you said you don't want to cut the bed. Do you plan on keeping the truck? If you don't plan on keeping the truck don't go long travel. This will destroy the value of the truck (unless another person who wants long travel buys it).

Also, if you want long travel, do it right the first time. Dont settle for a DMZ SUA kit with 14" bypasses and not cutting the bed. You will save money in the long run to do it right the first time and cut the bed. If you are going big, go big. There are plenty of low profile cage designs that don't take up bed space. I still use my truck as a truck and can still fit 4'x8' plywood sheets ontop of my cage. Don't get me started on the +2" "long travel kits". IMO they are a waste of money. Go with a +3.5 kit

Do it right the first time like this guy said...sadly @concentric_killa set me straight after I went with a mid travel rear when I knew better.

So, basically the spring under is still a go but I should NOT stay with stock shock mounts and go big with a bed cage for my shocks or is the cage more than that? And my intent is to still have use of my bed.

Yes...you have to relocate if you want to get ANYTHING better than stock capability. I am getting my rear installed in a month and my shocks will be going through the bed. Besides the upper corners of the bed, the majority of my bed is still useable.

That one in the pic isn’t, but he makes an identical one now that is bolt on.

At least people on here know whats up with going spring under. Here in utah there are a hand full of people that have done a "chevy 63" swap. Sure you can fab new hangers and shackles but it still isn't spring under. I need to get more people on the spring under band wagon especially for all the rock crawlers around here.
