    I'd be interested too.

I put a new carb and fuel lines on my weedwacker last year, but now the plastic throttle trigger mechanism is falling apart and I think I'm done dealing with it. Plus the way it works is stupid. There is no manual choke--pulling the rope chokes it. So, if it's warm already you never get it started again.

I had thought about getting an 18 or 36v weedwacker. Makita makes them, and I already have one of their drills and want other things, so then I'd have consistency in batteries. It's either that or just get a nice Stihl or something.

I have the Ryobi 18v string trimmer and hedge clippers that use the same batteries as my drills. The string trimmer does OK. It's only a single string so nothing spectacular but I have a small yard and it will easily do the whole yard on a single battery with room to spare. The hedge trimmers are actually pretty decent but eat up the batteries. I only have hedges along the front side of my house and I'll go through at least one full battery and well into the second in the Spring when I trim them back. For touch ups, one battery is fine but again, I don't have a lot of trimming to do. If I had more area to cover, I'd definitely want a gas version or I'd go through half a dozen batteries.

I just use the premix ethanol free gas from Lowe's/ home despot and never have any issues. It's more expensive but I also don't have a huge yard so it's not a large expense either. Everything fires up even after the winter. Only other thing I do is fogging oil at the end of season on mower/ weedwacker. For the snowblower I use 93 octabe w/ startron and fog at the end of the season.

I do too. And for the 4-cycle engines I go just over the border to Vermont and buy ethanol free 91.

This one is a bad design. Pulling the cord chokes it, squeezing the throttle releases the choke. No way around having it choke when you pull the cord, so it won't start again if it's been used for a while and is warm.

I was using an angle grinder with a wire brush to get the aluminum on my boat cleaned up, I have 18 and 20v dewalt batteries and I was going through them in like 10-15 minutes max. I had 4 of them and two chargers and they couldn't manage it, had to take a break. I can see it working on a smaller yard like @Pugga says, but for a mid-large size yard I'd be hesitant with the smaller batteries. I have seen some have like full battery backpacks you can strap on..but in mid-summer that sounds HOT to me. I'd be interested to see how long the 36v ones work.

I only have around a half acre of lawn. Most of it I can mow with the lawn tractor or pushmower. If I ignore the hill that is too steep to mow, I can do all the trimming in 5-10 minutes. If I do the hill, it's probably 30, but I only do that every other week.

Vssman probably has prepaired drafts of how is first day will go so he can choose the best response.

Some from column A , some from column B.

If he writes some from column X those will be the most accurate,

I've got the kobalt 80 volt battery weedwacker from Lowe's. One charge and I have enough juice to do the edging of my 1/4 acre lot twice.

Sounds like it might work perfect, and a second battery would take care of any issues

    Morning.

Just got back from a run, when I was 2.5 miles away from my office my nose started gushing blood and wouldn't clot :bananadead:. That was a fun run back pinching my nose the whole time. Ran all winter and never happened, but now that it's nice, it does.

I guess this triggers another question--

What do you guys use for your cordless tools? I have a 18V LXT Makita drill that I love, but the rest of the stuff is still corded. I guess I need to decide now whether to stick with Makita as I buy more things or go to Milwaukee or another.

I like Milwaukee stuff too, but I don't think it's any better than Makita, and the pricing seems similar. I'd eventually love a couple impacts, sawzall, grinder, circular saw, etc., so I'm not relying on all my corded ones.

We have some DeWalt stuff at work and it's probably plenty for what I do, but it just doesn't feel as nice as the Makita stuff to me. Haven't looked at the price difference much.

It's 1030, you should be 4 cups of coffee deep at least and all hopped up and hyper alert by now

I think I'm going to build up my 82 at some point. Not sure when. Not sure if I want to put a stock bed on it, go with a flat bed, or one of the rock crawler bed cage thingies with storage. Also not sure if I want to repaint it all fancy-like, or if I want to rattle can it.

If I go the restoration route, I'll throw an OEM bed on it. If I go the off road route, it'll get 37's, lockers and gears, and an exo cage... Lots to think about.
