TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I have some bumpers coming... That means I need to re-think my lights and switches...

You want assembly goo. It is pretty much mandatory to keep a couple of the parts suspended until you get the vb re-installed.

 

Hmm, I didn't need it. Stuff stuck just enough. Held things in with one hand until I got the VB positioned.

 

I don’t remember the exact price. It was a few hundred though.

Turn around time was two days. They’re only about ten miles from me in Hawthorne NJ. I dropped it off after work one night and picked it up on the way home two nights later.

They also rebuilt a few worn parts in the valve body for no extra charge. They’re good people.

 

This is what I saw when I did a quick search, but there were a few different ones(color) and I didn't know what the differences were between them

 

You must be a magician! That black plastic check valve and spring just fall out without the lube. There was no resistance to hold it up at all on mine.

 

The hole for the black plastic piece was way bigger than the black plastic piece. I may have been able to hold it in with one hand but that would of made hooking the shift linkage up a pain in that ass

 

That's not unreasonable at all. I wonder if I sent itp's link to my shop they would figure it out. They are great but rarely work on Tacomas. Especially ones that aren't broken.

 

IPT doesn’t share exactly what they do.

You were right. Just took the truck for a few hot laps. Best thing I’ve done to the truck under $500.


With that said once my 194k mile trans gives up I’ll be going with an ipt building complete trans.

 

Unless you have a tranny jack. I used it at my work because it was there. Made reassembly amazingly easy.

Right? It was a night and day difference after reworking my VB. Well worth the time and effort.

 

Well... when you drop 10k on go fast parts, what’s another $700 to have a nice shifting trans?

Also, might keep from cooking it too.

 

I remember now looking at their site. For whatever reason, they charged me $100 less than what was listed on there.

They also rebuilt the VB. It’s not just a shift kit you’re paying for.

 

Wish I could find a shop here that could work some magic.

 

The green is the firmer goo for warm weather and max holding power. It fully dissolves at 130°F too so its doesnt stay around long after reassembly.

 

Right. It will dissolve during your initial check of the fluid level basically. Pretty trick stuff!

 

Don’t forget the torque converter upgrade while you’re in there. He kept mine at stock stall speed since it’s a daily driver.
