Cool deal, if it keeps all the water out and works like it's supposed to i'll probably pick one of those suckers up.

At 3:46 in the video it has a big door on the rear of it. However it would require you to leave your tailgate down to get up there. They definitely should include some form of ladder for 5K like mentioned above

I can't imagine anyone using the ladder, not the intended way of getting in and not a useful way of getting in either to be honest. With ladder installed how to you open the tailgate? Constantly put ladder up and down? Makes no sense.

Entry via the bed is the design. It works quite nicely.

Not sure what the conversation is about but my RTT ladder is in the back and I leave my tailgate down.

I made a comment about this $5k setup that has a door, no ladder over the tailgate. You have to take one side of the sleeping platform apart in order to get out of it supposedly. Not a great design if you think about 2 people ever sleeping in this.

I think with a RTT, depending on how it is configured, that works. For the GFC you could presumably leave the tailgate itself open since a ladder would angle out, but you couldn't open the rear shell door which opens upward. Playing devil's advocate though the GFC does have the nice side opening panels so if you didn't actually want to get in the bed of the truck but just grab stuff from it you could do all that from the sides with a ladder in place.

Anywho, someone could certainly use it a variety of ways. The ladder seems an unusual use case for the GFC. They designed it for entry from the bed and it works well that way. I don't think it makes sense for them to include a ladder - no matter what the selling price of the camper - because the design simply isn't conceived of for a ladder. Though one could certainly be used.

EDIT: We are probably derailing this thread at this point. For endless discussion on the GFC there is a thread for it:

Well, or you can read about people who have been using it with 2 people and haven't had any problems getting out at night while the other person sleeps. The panels can be oriented such that the two half panels are at the feet. Each person can independently get up, remove the panel at their foot and get out and not disturb the other.

I do like the construction of this and the fact that the rack system will carry 500lbs. I would prefer to not have to take panels apart to get out. The price point seems good compared to what out there.

In the meantime I'm keeping an eye out for a used flip pac.

    Just the basics
The GFC was researched and tested quite a bit before they went ahead with production. It all depends on what works for you. If you don't like it don't buy it. Or wait for user reports.

Keep your eye on @inv3ctiv3 if you aren't already. His might end up for sale and isn't that far from you.

Since I've got to sleep three I very much like our Flip-Pac. Ludicrous amounts of space when open! A bit overkill when I'm solo.
