I agree that I don't think it will hurt anything but I would NEVER do it.
How much $ are you saving and compare that to what you paid for your truck, it makes no sense IMO.

I may be missing something but I'm looking through the Maintenance booklet and do not see an interval for replacing the auto trans, rear diff, transfer case and front diff fluids not under Special Operating Conditions. Is it when the fluids are inspected is when the decision is made to replace? What is the consensus for those intervals on TW? I'm coming up on 30K miles and about 90% of the miles have been on pavement.
    Thanks, Tim

I changed my front diff, rear diff, and MT oils @ 30k.

Decided to pass on the transfer case since I rarely use 4wd.

The front diff was very clean since I rarely use 4wd and didn't need to be replaced.

@60k, I will replace the rear diff oil only. Will probably wait til 90k to do the full service front diff, rear diff, MT, and TC oils

If there was a video on how to under every maintenance, those videos would get quite a few views.

I just ordered some Redline 75W85 GL5 Front and Rear Diff Fluid & 75W90 GL4 MT Fluid.
I might do a how to video on changing the 3 Fluids.
I'm at 51,000 KMS approximately 32,000 Miles. I had already changed my rear diff fluid at 3000 KMS approximately 1865 Miles with Redline 75W85 GL5 and the factory fluid was VERY polluted at that point.
I'm very curious to see how the Redline fluid held up for 48,000 KMS.

What are good tools to make sure you are applying the correct torque on the bolts?

Here is one for the rear diff. This is not really a complete how to, it's just me changing my fluid and talking about it.
    Sorry for the poor lighting.

And here is the last one I made. Manual Transmission Fluid Change.
Again, it's not really a complete how to, it's just me changing my fluid and talking about it.

I sent my HF torque wrench to Micro Precision for testing and calibration. They sent it back with a complete report and it needed no calibration. It was spot on.

I use this one since it works just as well and it's half the price. I add a few drops of vanilla extract to it so I can get a cheap air freshener effect from it.

How are the factory levels (Diffs, tranny etc) low from the factory? It seems like it is a common theme, and boggles my mind.

Closely check work performed! A dealer performed the last complimentary 2 year service on my TRD. The invoice (no cost to me) showed a cabin air filter, oil change and oil filter change. Afterward, I noticed nothing was disturbed in my glove box. I opened it up and found the old cabin air filter still in place (complete with leaf fragments). They said, "Bring it back and we'll make it right!". Later still, a close inspection found none of the skid plate bolts had any marring or disturbed dirt whatsoever. I don't believe they removed it. The oil looked very clear but darkened more than normal in a couple weeks. I believe they just drained the oil and added new, but did not replace the filter. I've caught quick lube places doing this before (by marking the spin on filter), but never a dealer before! I'm going back to changing oil and filters myself so I know what is getting done.

Yeah doing oil changes my self to make sure it's done right. Bought a pack of 6 OEM filters off Amazon for 20 bucks and it's a simple job. Not a big fan of the filter style though.
