I said piss on it too and bought the same set up today. After talking to Marie, she said that the 6112s are good, but a little overhyped.

I'm pretty happy with that setup overall. I have stock springs F/R with the 5100's set at 0.65". That has me almost level with maybe 3/4" of forward rake. I really like the stance. The 5100's at the second clip are a little stiffer than I was hoping for but not bad. They do ride better on the highway than on our terrible surface streets. The 5160's have been great all over.

I ordered mine January 31st from 4wheelparts. They showed in stock when I bought them. A day later I get informed they are on backorder ETA April 21st... still waiting. I emailed them this month asking for a update. Two weeks passed with no response. So I called them and talked to a lady who would call Bilstein and give me a call back. Never got that call back and a week later I received a response to my email saying end of July.

I'm not super impressed with my dealings with 4 wheel parts. They wouldn't sell me a Billie ome kit installed, and then tried to convince me to go with a procomp kit.

Marie over @HeadStrong Off-Road was much better to deal with. Little harder to get ahold of, but way more knowledgeable about tacomas.

Well for anyone looking at 6112s, I have some advice. I have had mine on for several thousand miles now. It's been on 2 or 3 long offroad drives and several small ones. For a light truck, they are pretty amazing for what you pay. They provide high quality offroad performance and a pleasant on road experience.

If you plan to get a bumper and a winch, you should consider stronger springs. This is why. I added one of the smallest bumpers that would hold a winch (a semi hidden Warn). I also added a 9000lb winch with synthetic rope. I chose those specifically to keep the weight as light as possible. Even so, I lost some attitude on the front of the truck.

I am running 285/75 - 16 hybrids on the stock OR wheel with 1.25" spacers. Even with the "sag" the tires still fit off road. I did have to soften and reshape the fender liner again as the front dropped some, but I am still not contacting the cab mount. Functionally, it is still great on road and still really good off road. I have noticed that on acceleration from a stop, the nose of the truck rises more than it should, telling me the 6112's are sitting low in their range.

Where looks are concerned, IMO it needs the front height back to balance out the rake I already built into it. My next move is either to swap these for some OMEs or replace the spring with a 650lb Eibach.

These are perfect for someone seeking high performance, that doesn't plan to add much weight over the front axle.

Switch to 650s , what I did and fixed all the problems.

Harvo, Curious to know what setting you have the 6112s set to?

I've been eyeballing the 6112/5160/Dakar setup for a long time. Now that I'm in position to pull the trigger they're back ordered for at least 2 more months. (Seems very strange that a major manufacturer like Bilstein would stop production yet still advertise them everywhere.)

I just got a U.S. Hidden Winch bumper and trying to decide which winch to go with - will most likely be a Comeup DV-9S or Warn M8000S. Also SOS Concepts IFS skid and rock sliders coming soon. If I end up going with the 6112s i'll probably be looking into the Eibach 650 lb coils.

So now I'm conflicted. Wait for the 6112s to become available again or maybe go with the Fox Level 2 kit.

I am on settings 5/6. I think the 650# springs are a good solution, but not excited about taking the springs off the shocks or putting new ones on.

Knowing what I know now, I might have initially gone with a different set up in front. By the time you disassemble, assemble and install... plus the cost of the heavier springs, it would probably be a wash.

the rear 5160's advertise up to 1.5" of lift, is it bad to go .5-1" above that in the rear?

    is there a height/travel distance between the rear 5100's vs 5160's ?

Ricebox I dont think so. Lots of people are running the 5160s with dakar 2.75" lift leaf springs

FWIW I'm running about 2" lift with the 5160's but thats with AAL's. IIRC the Dakars give you a lot more droop so may not be the best choice in that case. The 5160's do extend 1" longer than stock or 5100's without having longer collapsed length so perfect for 1.5" AAL's especially the progressive type. Regarding the added weight up front for sure upgrade the spring. I'm stock up front so the 6112 stock spring is just fine (3rd setting). In fact I have added weight in back so kind of the opposite effect. I love the way she rides right now on and off road.

Yo! If I get the 6112s and put them on the 4th or 5th notch am I gonna have vibration and/or CV issues if I don't drop the diff?

Also, has anyone tried the 5th notch? If so, how much lift did you settle at?

I already have an Al plate bumper, steel sliders and warn winch and my shocks are near shot; I just broke 200k miles two months ago. I'm planning on rebuilding my LCAs with poly bushings and a greasable ball joint, getting LR UCAs. I'm finally getting a shell so I thinking 5160s, but haven't decided between 2" AAL or 2.75" leaf pack; just got new toyota recall leafs 20k miles ago, so leaning toward AAL.

So with all the shite up front I would like to be sitting 2.5" up front after settling to minimize the gate. I'm not looking to level, just not be too ass high in the back.

Take the time to read through the whole thread or use the search button specifically to find what you need. A lot of good info if you want the setup. I would change out to the ECGS bushing without a question. Up to you though. You’ll either have the problem immediatley or later down the road.

Yes I put 6112's on about a year and a half ago. Took the sway bar off last year sometime, and I have had no issues with the combo. I did not even notice any additional body roll unless I was trying to. I have no additional weight up front though which probably helps. I am only on the second notch on my 6112's.
