My friend likes to ride all day, I like to camp, backpack. We only do a ride a month together usually. First we've done in the last three years, he is pretty judgemental over most stuff or giving his opinion. Like no one is allowed differing thoughts, going to maybe sell my bike and just keep the dirt bike. Too many things taking my money.

I'm back! Not in a Tacoma, but I just inherited a 1984 Toyota pickup DLX 4WD single cab long bed with the 22R and 5 speed manual. It has been nonoped for the last 15 years, registration is current and has been driven less than 500 miles since being taken off the road. It has served its life as a ranch truck, so the body is rough, but the absolute best part... It only has 55K original miles. No swaps, replacements, accidents, pretty much been treated like a family heirloom. Getting a thorough once over by a local mechanic right now and then I'm hoping to get a transportation permit and drive it home the weekend after next. Anyways, I've missed my pickup and thankful to have this one fall in my lap. I would welcome any pre-first gen related threads if you know of any. See you around. I'll upload pics as soon as I have some.

It's definitely a pickup. The VIN had DLX and 4runner listed as options. VIN lookups are only so accurate, the 4Runner thing is not an option but an error. Anyways, picked up my transport permit from DMV this morning. Headed to pick it up Saturday afternoon.

Drove up last night, stayed with my mom. Picked the truck up this morning, noticed a leak at the fuel pump, no lights, had to jump it, and the brakes were soft. Got it down the hill to my uncles shop. He gave me a free battery that was a customer warranty return, but turned out it had nothing wrong with it. I put in the new fuel pump, duct taped on some trailer tail lights, bled the brakes, dressed the belts and hoses, checked it all over and away we went. I had my original mileage wrong, but for the better. Non oped in 2004 with 37k miles and it had 43K when I picked it up today. Drove it home from Colusa County, across highway 20 around Clearlake and then down 101 from Ukiah to Petaluma. She's no beauty queen, but lots of life left in her. First on the agenda is a thorough cleaning of the interior and engine compartment and then I will start to prioritize what to tackle next (overall tuneup??) .20180428_160624.jpg 20180428_195056.jpg

The owner is a family friend. I used to work for the owner when I was in middle school and high school and this was the truck she would give me to run around the ranch in. Matter of fact being from the same small town, my wife at the age of 12 learned to drive stick in this same truck. Our friend always knew that I wanted it and called me last week and offered it to me for $2500. I obviously jumped on the opportunity and it it's finally a project my wife and I have equal sentimentality towards. Let's see if that translates to a more open checkbook.

Anyone have any good or bad experiences purchasing camper shells from either Campway or Truck Tops USA in Santa Rosa? Read some iffy things on Yelp (go figure) but figured I would try to get a TW perspective.

Been slowly working away at the '84. Decided to tackle the interior first due to the nice family of mice who had made their home in the blower housing. Probably a good thing to do regardless of the rodents, since the ductwork had accumulated quite a bit of dust living strictly on dirt roads for the last 14 years. Pulled all the interior panels, duct work, and HVAC system. Hosed it out, scrubbed with soap, and once it's all dry, hit it all with some plastic and vinyl restorer. Pulling seats and door panels next and spraying out the cab, and then the FatMat on the floor and under door panels.

    Knock knock?

Any of you guys still here?

Visiting my folks in Santa Rosa. I was hoping to see if anybody would let me borough a pair of 6 ton jack stands and a 6 ton floor jack. My front Dakar bushings are-a-squawking. And are in desperate need of lube before my 1.2K trip, back to AZ...

    I can:
    • Pay a deposit for said floor jack & jack stands until unboroughed.
    • Assist on a truck related repair/mod to last no more than six hours (I possess most metric tools). If something goes wrong, I'll buy beer.
    • Supply a 12 pack of beer of your choosing.
    • Dress in a clown costume, leveraged on a seat above a working dunk tank for your son's bar mitzvah or your daughter's Quinceañera (Not to exceed one hour & you must supply beer &/or alcohol).
    • Or all four. (Minus the clown suit/ bar mitzvah & quinceañera participation).
I head back to AZ next weekend. Thank you for the consideration.

I have a jack and a pair of 6 tons if you want to borrow them. Not sure if my jack is a 6 ton (off hand), but neither the jack of stands have ever been a concern.

Can’t deliver but feel free to come snag them, can just stick them back in my yard when you’re done.

I’m in northwest Santa Rosa. PM me if you wanna arrange.

Last call for free 4Runner rear suspension before it goes on Craigslist.

5th gen MetalTech LT rear, shocks with bypasses/adjusters, coils and lean spacer.

Needs rebuilding. Pick up in Santa Rosa, must take all.

First come, first served. You’re either picking it up, or you aren’t! It hits Craigslist Friday morning 9/14 whether you claimed it or not.

Come. Get. It. Out. Of. My. Garage.
