I probably understand about half of what’s going on in r/justrolledintotheshop - everything else is left up for interpretation.

Like there’s some vague photo of a gear and a thousand upvotes.

Probably best to ask questions then. I find it fun to have a guess at what it is first, lots of it I can get right off the bat but the big time diesel stuff always throws me for a loop as I don't have any experience with industrial/commercial diesels.

I had the same issue when I changed mine. Kept leaking no matter what I did. I had gone the cheap route through Amazon for the replacement. Initially thought I cross threaded the damn thing. Ended up buying an OEM replacement, tightened the crap out if it, problem solved. Not doing that again...

Take it back. Someone cross threaded it and returned it. Hopefully they won’t blame you for it.

    Señores,

My belts are squeaking and I am going to order some replacements. I think my older pulley is a little noisy too, so I’m gonna order one of those as well.

Are there any other parts I should swap out while I have the belts off?

    Planning to go w

So I guess this is my issue with the 5 tire rotation. Let's say you rotate 5. You now wore 5 down to half tread, and get a flat. You throw your evenly worn spare on, and continue on your journey. Now you go to the tire shop, replace your fucked tire with a brand new one. What are you going to do? Pay them to shave down your brand new tire to half it's life? Or just deal with running a brand new tire as your spare, and the rest being half worn. Then if you get another flat, you will now have a brand new tire with a bunch of worn ones.

I figure with this method, if I get a flat, which is inevitable in the shit I wheel on, I can put the brand new spare on to get me home. Then go get the fucked tire replaced and throw a brand new set on the same axle, and worn set on the other axle and a worn one as my spare. I would just rotate them side to side now and front to back keeping them on the same axle. Now if I get another flat, if it ends up being one of the worn ones in the same life span, I'm set already, and if it ends up being a newer one, those newer ones should hopefully be worn down to almost the same as the one I am now putting on. Again, it's a different approach than most, but it seems like an interesting concept. I'll let you guys know how it works in the real world. :p

Process? Did you just push from dead center? Or slowly push more and more through the curve of the flair?

Have music or a podcast to listen to. It's going to get boring - hell I get bored when I'm stuck in traffic on the SF Bay Bridge during rush hour. Where you going?

Take lots of breaks too, don't know who you'll meet. I had a portable CB antenna on my roof when I drove down to Reno to pick up my transmission. At a rest stop somewhere on I-80 in the Sierra-Nevada foothills, this guy with a F250 towing a trailer full of Polaris stuff came up to me and started talking to me. He was a HAM radio guy so I guess he got excited when he saw someone else with an antenna. Guy had a million antennas on his truck and on his ATV's.

Can't forget the scenic lookouts, too.

I never thought of it like that, but if I found myself in that situation with four half worn mtr’s i would buy all new and sell the old on craigslist subsidizing my new purchase...half worn tires sell fast where I live and for good money, and then I have all new tires. Might be a hassle but worth it in that sutuation.

Christ that's a long drive... don't want to fly?

I can't do long drives by myself. I always have to drag one of my friends with me.

Your overthinking it bud. I would just run the new tire and stay on the same rotation timing as I would normally do. Just roll with the punches.....

Alone... with my thoughts!? I thought this was a truck, not a philosophical medium in which we use to interpret our own beings!

You're very right. I remember driving down some desolate highway in the middle of nowhere California in the middle of the night, and not seeing another car for hours. No radio reception and I didn't have an aux at the time. It was strangely peaceful, but scary. Shit if I broke down they won't find my body for weeks.
