Hey all, I have a 2010 Tacoma that I’m planning on installing an Apple CarPlay head unit into very soon. I’m looking for a USB outlet to use with the system underneath the HVAC controls. I did a forum search and found a combo usb/aux port that some have used, but the head unit I’m looking at doesn’t have an aux connection. So ideally, it would just be a single USB port that I can tie into the head unit. Can anyone post a link to some options for this? Thanks!

Test that the usb hub works with carplay, before you go thru running and mounting it. I asked about retaining the hub on my 15 corolla for carplay and I was told it might or might not work.

Most definitely. Test all functions before buttoning everything back up.

Make sure the hub you find is USB2.0 or faster/newer. I have a pioneer 6100NEX and ran a usb/hdmi port to replace the cigarette lighter. (i have an 06 and dont have the extra blanks on the lower console). Carplay became unreliable and sometime useless very quickly. After testing with an apple cord straight to the back of the unit which gave me no issues i found out that my adapter plug was usb1.0. The usb1.0 or 2.0 compatible information can be hard to find when looking for a plug. If it doesnt state it keep looking. Once i found a USB2.0 usb outlet the problems disappeared other than issues caused by OS updates.
