    when it’s up there.

    What do you think?

Pulled the dash, re-routed the usb by the cig. Lighter using charging cable and drilled a hole up top. Threw on a grommet from harbor freight and it works! I use maps on my phone and Usually my phone is down to 10% charge by noon, problem solved

Looks good, but USB by the Cig? Uhh, what USB by the cig? Do you mean the data USB? Do 2018’s have a higher amp output USB plug for power charging down there or am I missing something about the one on my 2017, because I thought it was a low amp one?

Seems like the low and one will still charge some iPhones, my buddy has a 16 and it charges his iPhone but my 17 won't charge my pixel

Mine has an aux and a usb so yea probably data. But it charges my iPhone 7 plus. The hole and dash routing was most important. If I need to, I can route from a cig lighter in the center console

Yeah - other threads say its just 500mA. Good for dash cams and some phones and stuff, but I wouldn’t charge a iPad or other large item with it. If you need more juice, Your idea is good to tie into the 12v circuit and put a 2amp 5v USB converter behind it. Nice place to put the wire though, very convenient!

Can you still use the other one? I keep a micro scandisk thumbdrive in mine all the time with all of my CD collection copied as MP3’s on it- works great!

So I just went for a quick drive, in 10 minutes it charged 9%. Not bad!

Is there a way to replace one of the 3 cigarette lighters with a permanent USB port?

Agreed the plug in ones are great, cheap and no wiring or install.

You can get dual usb that sits flush and less than $10
