You have two 'unions' and no breather.
On the very first post of this thread are the two parts and the part numbers...

Thanks for the tip, it looks great; barely noticeable.

I'm also concerned with this. David K said earlier to only put the tape on the thread which is obvious, but I'm still curious if someone needs to unscrew the union, if pieces of teflon would fall in.

    That's the hose I used.

This hose should work fine, it will just need to be cut to length.

As the name of this thread says: My Diff Mod... so in my opening post I provide EXACTLY every part I used and 8 years later, it is all just perfect!

Sorry, didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. Just wanted to make sure 3/8 was the inner diameter, I guess that's understood in your first post. Bought the parts, measured the breather and was a tad smaller in diameter than the union, but 3/8 should work well. Thanks.

After procrastinating for two years, finally got ‘er done today!!

Thanks so much for the write up @David K and for the fast order/delivery of the parts @gunny1005!

Only question I have though: when camping, I often sleep in the bed of my truck (I have a shell). Should I be concerned at all about the fumes from the breather now that I have it installed in the storage cubby??

So how much Teflon tape do you add to the plug?

I didn't use any. The OEM plug I removed didn't have any on it, so I figured it was not needed. I could be wrong though.

Use Very little Tape and make sure that you do not bring the tape down and cover the opening Plus one that is always missed is the Direction to wrap the tape is counter clockwise so when screwing it in it does not roll back up off the threads.

Toyota does not use tape they use a small amount of Liquid thread sealant

I'm sure this has been covered but I can't seem to find a definitive answer... does the 3rd Gen Tacoma (in my case 2018) electronic locker have a separate breather on it? I've been under the truck, looked for a breather, and haven't been able to find one but it would be very easy to miss under there.

For anyone that it might help, I did some research and found an answer to this. The lockers on the 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas (and from what I understand all the FJ's and many of the 4Runners) used an external locker actuator that did have a separate breather. The locker actuator on the 3rd Gen is inside the differential housing and does not have a breather; only the one on the differential. So, for those of you considering doing this mod on a 1st or 2nd Gen you have two breathers to consider but only one breather on the 3rd Gen. Hope someone finds this helpful.
