Just got back from a camping music festival. The Drifter held up awesome. It got aroud 40° at night, which was super cold for the wife (she’s actually medically allergic to cold), so I put the small Buddy Heater on top of my fridge cabinet and the sleeping platform was super warm in 15 minutes. Turned the heater off and it stayed warm until we went to sleep.

The mornings were hot and I can hear everyone that was tent camping wake up around 8AM because the sun made their tent interiors super hot. For me, I woke up feeling a little warm around the same time, propped up, turned on the ceiling fan and it was instantly cool within 5 seconds - no joke! I slept in until 11:30AM :D. We also took naps during the day (which was impossibe for tent campers).

One thing I have to mention is that one of the nights I woke up to take a leak so I went “downstairs” to use the toilet and it was a lot colder down below. Makes sense, heat rises.

But overall great trip. Glad I got it ready in time for my wife to experience it for the first time. She loved it. The camper is still filled with camping gear (our camp had 12 people), so I packed a lot more than I usually do. Once I unload and clean it up a bit, I’ll post more pics of the interior.

Also, the fridge/solar combo worked great. 4.5 days without starting the truck - constant fridge, lights, etc and my battery was 14v when I woke up and throught the day, and never went below 12v when the sun was down.

Beyond stoked with this set up! Next up, Baja in a few days :bananadance:

@tacomgee What are the details on your solar setup? Considering doing something similar and curious on what components you went with, wire routing, tips, etc.

I don’t know the exact components of @tacomgee ’s truck, but here are the basics.

The flexible panels are attached to the roof with 3M tape.

The wires are routed to a low profile entry gland, like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00S...=FPCAEPAQXYKJMBD9PZ8J&dpPl=1&dpID=51Yu90EdH8L

Because the top of the tent is slightly narrower than the roof, the underside of the penetration is still outside, not above the living space.

    C181A7F8-5B8D-4A5A-9D48-F3ACFB7A67E4.jpg

Then the wire is routed through the covered upper corner of the tent. From there, it runs to the inside front corner of the overhang/ bed platform. It runs in our wire channel, under the bed platform, and drops down into the lower shell. Then it runs through our wire track. From there, it can run to any corner brace, and the solar controller can be mounted in any corner to one of our aluminum corner brace panels.

    Here’s @MJonaGS32 ’s panel:

    75535E5B-5760-4023-A695-BC3F8F94563F.jpg

Or routed out from any corner to an interior/ exterior of a cabinet. Like this:

    46674869-D6DF-4183-B09F-C64176732C4D.jpg

That’s actually a Propex thermostat. And I guess it makes sense at this point to let everyone know that we’re a Goosegear dealer.

The only wire you see inside is a small (2 - 3”) portion in the front corner of the wedge, where it comes into the tent and drops into the bed platform wire channel.

The rest of the routing is concealed. By design of course.
