Anyone run this route before? It looks fun, and I was curious if there are any deep water crossings. A lot of rain this week and we are going to be running part of it. Thanks

I've been on bits and pieces of it. There are hard parts and easy parts. Some of it can be ran with a totally stock vehicle. Other parts are tough, especially in wet weather. I'll see if I can hunt up the link to the guy who started it and has mapped it all. He's extremely helpful. I see in your avatar you're into the 2-wheelers. The guy I'm referring to runs KAT on a bike mostly.

He can provide you with the most accurate info, maps, as well as shops, gas stations, food and lodging along the way.

We were on part of it that shares trails with DBBB last Saturday. Not much deep water then. Deepest we saw was maybe 2'.

KAT regulars seem to hang out on Expedition Portal website more so than here.

Jeff is very helpful. There's a lot of action on questions on the face book group. I've ran it in sections on the big bike and in the 4runner. It's a great time. My favorite offroad was hensley settlement (super rocky), favorite trails are between slade and Mckee. Favorite camp is S-tree.

What was your 4Runner set up like for Hensely? A lot of people are saying a locker is highly recommended because it is rocky but it doesn't look horrid. I know videos and pics can be deceiving though.

At that time I had 3" lift on 33" Nitto Exo Grapplers aired down to 18psi, rock sliders, stock skid plates, front sway bar attached still, no rear sway bar. No locker's just the atrac system. I got a stick jammed up around my driveshaft somehow, rock rash on all the wheels, lost a center cap and a valve step cap on one wheel, lost a nut on the sway front sway bar link (which later dropped down and tore up my outer CV boot) but only hit rock slider once. It was for a sure a long rocky climb but very doable with no lockers. I was also by myself, a spotter would have been nice for some of the narrow areas near washouts.

Good info for sure. I have a 3" with 33" Wildpeaks, no sway bar, sliders and skids. I do need to do some trimming on the cab because I rub bad. I'm trying to get a friend of mine to mod his truck so I can get him to go with me when I find the time to get down there. I was hoping for this fall but I don't think that will be happening as of right now.

No need to have a modded truck. I ran into a guy from Cincinnati a couple years ago, stock 2nd gen taco 4x4 on bald tires, him and his buddy had a blast on the easy sections from slade around to S-tree and cooked up some killer camp meals! Modded truck (or fine stock if you're okay really effing it up) required for the hard sections for sure.

I agree stock is fine for most things, he has a 2012 F150 on 33s. Truck does well but would get real messed up on most trails with no armor I'd think. Either way I'm hoping to run the trail within the next 6 months to a year. Thanks for the info!
