Am I missing something here, or is your radar now pointed at a solid piece of plastic? If so I can't believe that won't cause some issues before long, especially if you (hopefully not) get into an accident and the insurance company sees the mod you made.

the factory radar garnish is also a solid piece of plastic, its just smooth and flat to not create any radar deflection. am surprised he isn't getting any errors from the system yet.

I just installed mine last night. $140 eBay grill. The part with the letters were the screw on type. The part were the 2018 garnish would've gone was also screw on. However, I went ahead and used the stock part and glued a sheet of hard plastic in front of it and bolted the TSS module right up. A quick drive around the block revealed no error messages. The 60 mile drive to work today will let me know if there are any other issues.

when you put the grill back into place at the end the grill itself only connected via tabs and then you just screwed in the 2 screws at the end right?

Well if you look at the factory garnish and the OEM non Pro Grill, that is exactly what it’s pointed at. That $50 shinny garnish people are buying is just a piece of plastic with a honeycomb graphic in the front.

Yes, 3 total screws. One on top and the two on the sides.

Yea I actually don’t want the strips but haven’t dived into really looking for one that just has the letters. So this was a compromise.

I put in a solid flat piece of plastic. It’s basically the same exact way it was set up on my old factory grill. There is a gap between the sensor and Toyota emblem (made out of solid plastic) on the non pro grills.

There are also others in here that have done the same. Really, you should be able to operate the radar without any plastic infront of it. The plastic is there to essentially protect the sensor from getting any debris on it.

@tonyinsight2 here is the one I purchased from eBay. Came from US stock via Fedex delivered in just about 5 days.

Check out my post on this thread for my install setup. I have an 2018 With TSS and didn’t need or use the extra garnish.

ok just checking I had to do the same. the actual grill itself I had to push the tabs in and then to mount it back to the car I had to screw the 2 top screws and the 2 side pins just pushed in.

hmm...ok. I could have sworn the factory garnish was translucent, even though it is very dark.

No, someone posted a picture of the garnish from the rear on here before.

I looked at an eBay posting for this pic below.
