Highs of 95-99 next couple of weeks. Hit 100 last week.

Hot, not as hot as in McAllen hot. Today's high is 103.

 

I think this Benz is about a 2002-2003ish. It probably cost close to $100K when new. Just look at it now...

Pretty sure I've never seen a Taco of the same year with body rust this bad!



I know the owner of this car, a very successful restaurateur. I don't think he's the original owner, but he's had it at least a decade and over the last 5-7 years or so, I've seen the rust go from relatively minor bubbling to this...

 

NOTE: I photographed the white one a week or two ago, and the blue one today, both in Doylestown.

My opinion of the EcoSport is that it looks cool, but it's really just a "lifted hatchback" being marketed as an SUV. Sure, it's available with all-wheel drive and looks kinda rugged; however, what real SUV comes with front-wheel drive and a 3-cylinder engine as standard? Also, it may be packed with techno-gimmicks, but when parts start to age and malfunction, they will become techno-nightmares. My cousin got rid of her '09 Fusion and bought a '98 Civic because the Fusion was nickel-and-diming her...

 

Honestly, I do not see anything cool about it!

Looks rugged? Again, I don't see it.

 

Pakistan probably makes Texas seem like one of the most comfortable places on earth, though I'd imagine the humidity in Pakistan is nowhere near as bad as it is in Texas...?

 

Actually, now that I think about it, it looks like an overinflated and slightly lifted Fiesta...

I've had my Taco for almost 9 years and have almost 84K miles. I'd like to see if either of those EcoSports is still operating as smoothly as my truck after almost a decade and over 83K miles!

 

DFW is slightly more humid, and about 15F lower. South TX inland by the border is more comparable.

 

...uh I drive trucks not little eco cars. I have no opinion.

Stay tuned for my opinion on the new Ford F-150 EcoDiesel.

 

Dallas is located in the north, I'm located 9 hours south of Dallas. We technically get more heat due to our shorter distance to the Equator.

 

The best part about it is the handle placement of the rear (SIDE-OPEN!!! ) hatch.

Otherwise it's neat, I guess. I wouldn't drive one, but I don't mind seeing them on the road.

 

That's what I don't like about MB's, a new one can cost $100,000 today, and will be rotting on a car lot with a price of $7,500 in 10 years.
