Wear items, yes, but I'd rather not break my clutch on the trail... Guess that's why I drive an auto, lol

My brother and I did it in my parents' garage with hand tools and a couple floor jacks. I guess it would be *possible* on the trail...

But I'd rather break out the tow strap...

Anything is possible just depends how many tools you bring. But it would suck all kinds of balls to have to do that so you just make sure your wear items are in good shape first that way you can abuse them and not worry

For sure. Dropping a transmission on the trail just sounds like a nightmare, unless maybe you were on a flat portion or flat rock or something. Would still suck hard...that's a day long job in a comfortable environment.

That's why I try to never wheel alone. Hitch a ride back home if needed, make a plan, and come back. Had to do that when the clutch cylinder in my old 4Runner died. We weren't even wheeling, just up in the mtns snowshoeing. Get in, clutch goes to floor. Called in a favor from a good friend to pick me up. Went back a couple days later with a new master cylinder, a shovel, a tarp, and a heater and got 'er done. Not fun.
