Got some use on this 5 yr old rough country winch, thinking its about time to upgrade to a much nicer 9500lb something? Winch doesn't sound as smooth as it use to either, maybe take apart and assess/regrease?.....Thoughts?

was looking at this and wondering if option 2 is worth twice as much?

    option #1-https://www.4wheelparts.com/Winches-Winch-Accessories/SuperWinch-Tiger-Shark-9500-9500lb-Winch-with-Synthetic-Rope-1595201.aspx?t_c=18&t_s=300&t_pt=100702&t_pn=SWI1595201

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I would clean out the existing winch and re-grease it. Give the existing rope a good cleaning and if it’s just the end that’s frayed, cut off a few feet and splice the hook back on.

If you’re set on a new winch have a look at Come Up brand winches. They make winches for Superwinch and others.

How the hell do u re-splice a synth rope? Thought it was pre made. That would save $ i trust my ability to pull apart and grease winch but add a new loop at the end? Do tell

Synthetic winch lines have a limited lifetime, even if never used. The material degrades all by itself, not to mention UV rays, dirt, rain, use, etc. I think their lifespan is 5 years but you'll have to check into that. I'd pull the winch apart and grease it then go with a quality line like MasterPull or equivalent.
