Is your time working on the top right of the unit? Mine just said "Updating" for the post week.

Edit: I spoke with Alpine and they said I need to connect the GPS antenna to the HU also. So now I'm in the process of piecing together a Y-cable with various adapters to be able to connect the one connector from the shark fin (that isn't the regular radio antenna) to both the XM and the HU.

Edit2: I found out that I can get the time to show by connecting the GPS puck and just hiding it under the seat. I'm not sure what the puck does, but a signal isn't needed to get the time, just the connection.

With all that you have done, does the new stereo allow you to access the setup features that the ENTUNE does like setting lights, door locks and such or do you just lose all the functionality?

Anyone install this on a 2nd gen yet? I want to but crutchfield told me it was recommended because the metra dash kit had the sides of the radio "clipped on" and the alpine is to heavy for that to work. I'm going to look into it more.

I’m a little confused on the microphone, and gps. As I understand you can use the stock microphone, GPS, and Sirius (with an optional adapter?). Also, this unit does not have a dedicated GPS and uses your phone’s data for gps? If I lose my phone there is no way to access GPS?

Anyone care to make a parts list for all the necessary parts to stay as stock as possible along with the proper dash/trim pieces to mount the head unit on top and keep the small cubby in the bottom portion?

You can't use the stock mic. Someone is making an adapter for it, but it's not available yet. I just routed the Alpine mic into the factory location.

You need your phone for GPS. I'm not sure what the HU GPS does except for displaying the time, which isn't even set automatically. My time wouldn't show up until I connected the GPS cable. I then had to set the time manually.

I also have a SiriusXM module so I used an adapter (see below) to connect the XM to the shark antenna and then used the puck that came with the HU. I just put the GPS puck under the seat so I can't see it and it's easy to route since I can't figure out what its purpose is. I'm working on a cable splitter to use the shark antenna for both XM and HU just for the hell of it.

    Here's what you need:

iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR (The actual signal converter - ordered from ebay )
iDatalink HRN-RR-TO2 (Main cable connections for Toyota - got from crutchfield)
Axxess AX-TOYUSB USB Adapter (Keep factory USB port - ordered from ebay)
iDatalink ACC-SAT-TO2 STO2 (GPS/XM adapters for shark antenna - got from crutchfield)
Brake Bypass (Let's you use settings and a lot of other features without the parking brake)

Crutchfield also gives you the antenna adapter you'll need and the dashboard installation kit. It's all included with the head unit order.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. What about the brake bypass cable?

EDIT: Don't do this splitter thing. It is completely unnecessary - I didn't find the second GPS cable and I thought there was only one (there's a white and a black connector for Nav and XM). Doing this will damage the GPS antenna. Everything has it's own connector, just keep looking in case it fell out of view.

Combined some cables to make a splitter so I could have the HU and XM both connected to the shark antenna at the same time. I cut most of the circuit board off the split cable and soldered the connectors directly since the connections weren't showing continuity.

XM works fine and the time shows up on the HU, so everything seems in working order, but I sometimes get an error message about the antenna not being connected each time I start the car, but that message goes away in a second. I'll see how it pans out over the next few days.

I wonder if I needed a couple of Schottkey diodes or something between the RF cables.

The green connector at the top goes to the shark antenna, the gold one in the middle to the XM module, and the grey one to the HU.

If I have a JBL unit and switching to the Halo9 where would I connect the grey and white RCA Cables from the Maestro RR plug into the Halo9? Would it go to the Sub Left and Right, Front Left and Right our Rear Left and Right? Does that make sense or would a picture help? Thanks

Pretty sure the only RCA plugs that go into the back of the Halo 9 are from the speakers. There are a couple cables from the Maestro that you dont connect.

Which cable do you guys use to go from a note 8 to radio? Does it mirror the image on the screen? Can you connect the factory back-up camera and the alpine junction box to a alpine front camera?

If you mean for Android auto, it's a USB C cable. It doesn't mirror the screen, but will give you the Android auto layout with the compatible apps.

How do you stream video from a note 8? USB-C to HDMI? Or do I need a converter to do so?

I think there is a way to do it with some adapter. I dont have it, but I do have a firestick hooked up to the HDMI port and I can get video that way. Maybe a USB C to HDMI cable will work?

How do you hook up to the note 8. It uses a USB-C connector?
