The time finally came to get a “new to me” truck with a little more room. I was able to buy a truck out of a lease from my dads company. Dad and I sat down three years ago and specked the truck out. It is a 2015 DCSB Sports Package, 4x4, leather seats, etc... So I have had three years to “build” the truck and figure out what I wanted it to end up looking like.

    CURRENT MODS:

    SUSPENSION:
    Icon Extended Travel Coilover
    SPC Upper Control Arms
    Icon Progressive AAL
    Icon Rear Shocks

    LIGHTING:
Spyder Headlights with 6000K Retrofit Source HID’s
Retrofit Source LED Foglights (foglight anytime mod)
@mesojdm LED Map & Dome Lights

    TIRES:
    255/80R17 Cooper ST Maxx
    Stealth Custom Series - Ray 10’s / 17x8.5 / Matte Black

    MISC EXTERIOR:
    Leer 100XR Camper Shell
    20% Ceramic Window Tint
    Plasti-Dip Emblems
    Mudflap Delete

    ————————————————

    FUTURE PLANS:

    LIGHTING:
    40” LED Light Bar

    MISC EXTERIOR:
    Prinsu Roof Rack
Some sort of bed rack / organization setup
    Sliders
    Skids

Here is how the truck currently sits

Here is the truck the day I brought it home. Bone stock with 64,000 miles

The first thing I done was black out the badges, do the fog light mod and remove the bull bar.

My next project was lighting. I loved the retrofits in my 2001 but I didn’t want to put that much time and effort into them right now. I ordered some of the Spyder headlights off of Amazon that already had projectors in them. I ran a bead of clear silicone around them for good measure. I then ordered Retrofit Sources LED foglights and HIDs for the new headlights. Once I got them adjusted I was very happy with how they turned out!

I was finally able to get everything installed this weekend. A buddy of mine has a shop with a lift, so that made life 100x’s easier than having to put it on jack stands! Everything went smooth, even the UCA replacement. Just a slight bend in the sheet metal and they slide right out!

I am going to give it a few days and let everything settle. From there I can make the necessary adjustments, if any needed, to level everything out. Then I will get it aligned. I set the SPC’s to the recommended settings and it appears to be pretty close. I can’t see where it’s wearing tires just yet and it drives like it did before the lift.

I love the ride quality of the ICON suspension. Very smooth and does a great job soaking up washboard, gravel roads. I would say that it is comparable, if not a little smoother than the stock suspension.

I took the truck on its first road trip this past weeekend. The alignment was spot with the adjustable control arms. It drives and rides like a dream! I need to bump the drivers side coilover up a turn or two to compensate for the taco-lean. Then it should be perfect.

While at the beach, I found a used Bestop soft top on craigslist for $200, back close to home. He was nice enough to hang on to it until I could get back home. Install went great and I am very pleased with how it turned out!

I installed my @mesojdm LED map lights tonight. These things are crazy bright and I love them! I have the dome light ordered. Hopefully it will be here in the next couple of days.

I am liking the soft top so far. I need to put some pipe insulation around the bars to see if I can quiet down some of the road noise. I am going to put some weather stripping on the bottom of the brackets to try and better water proof it.

I haven’t done a whole lot to the build performance wise, but I did swap out the factory alloys for a set of Stealth Ray 10’s and swapped the Snug Top for a Leer 100XR. The camper shell I bought second hand. The color match is off just a little, but for what I have in it, I am tickled!23DD3DC5-2D4D-47D2-9887-F3FB8040A3AE.jpgA84AE108-BC09-4F9E-A0D9-4484802FE8AE.jpg 8B354C8B-051B-4A3F-81D0-0A9B1A768AA9.jpg

Finally swapped out the 265/70R17 BFG KO2’s for a set of 255/80R17 Cooper ST Maxx’s. They fill out the fender well pretty good and so far, no rubbing. I am hoping to have sliders and skids by this fall. I want to get back into camping and trail riding, now that my little girl has gotten older (2.5 years old).

I also built a rifle rack for the bed. I do a good bit of hunting out of the truck, mostly predators and some turkey and waterfowl hunting. It didn’t cost me anything (scrap lumber) and it very sturdy. It freed up a lot of space in the cab for additional passengers.

Did a deep clean on the yota today. Washed and pressure washed everything, followed by clay bar. Then used Chemical Guys VSS to remove any swirl marks/imperfections and then topped it off with their Hydro Slick Wax. This is the best it has looked, since I have had it.
