Mental illness and deep depression are a motherfucker. To brush this off as merely selfish is an example of the stigma that is out there.

    Agree. It’s a real sickness.

RIP. While I’ve never seen him cook, that dude could whip up something poetic to say about it. He was a badass wordsmith.

Agree. Good to see a tribute to the man whose show took us to parts of the world few knew existed. He was truly honest, down to earth, with no pretense or B/S. He will be missed by many.

Unfortunate to hear, truly a brave and daring chef. Seeing some of the places and foods he ate was very different than a regular cooking show. Depression is a horrible thing and is no different than someone being sick with a life threatening disease. It left untreated it can be fatal. RIP Chef Bourdain

I've always enjoyed watching his work.

    Always interesting.

It's very sad that he couldn't outrun his demons.

There was a time in my life when I would have brushed aside his final act as an act of cowardice.

Now, though....I've come to better understand depression....true real deal depression.... and the way it has burdened some of my loved ones.

We all have......or will have.....to overcome hurdles in life. I am grateful that arthritis, nerve pain and the like are mine. I don't think I'd do well with the day-to-day grind of depression. I have utmost respect for the brave souls who persevere and get the help they need to combat depression and live fulfilling lives.
