Did a search and couldn’t find any SoCal threads about MX/MTB riders. As my name says. I’m Norm. I ride about once or twice a week when I’m not busy being a lighting tech for concerts or events. I’m always down to ride dirt bikes or mountain bikes. The Taco purchase was originally just to haul my toys but that is turning into an overland obsession at the moment. Wether I build it or not. Time will tell. Post up pics or your rides!! Past or present! I’m hoping this turns into meets. Maybe some practice/Trail ride days or a race series.

2017 YZ450F purchased June of last year. Already has 80 hours. Small mods done. Just sent it yesterday to get the suspension done.

2011 Santa Cruz Butcher. Still rocking the 26’s but with modern components.. Was going to get a 4th Gen Nomad ‘til I put the money down on my ‘18 OR instead. Crazy how expensive these things are!

That is my YZ250F! I ride the local MX tracks. Pala Raceway, Elsinore MX, Cahuilla Creek MX plus desert during the season.

Live in Torrance, used to race District 37 Desert for many years on my YZ250. Had a pretty bad spill racing broke my wrist and shoulder which required surgery.
Ride dual sport now on my plated KTM
Pic is from LA Barstow to Vegas at the finish in Vegas

@NormanPerez Thanks for setting this up!

Also a dirt bike rider, down in San Diego.

    Here's my 08 crf450r -
    IMG_2626.jpg

Wish I got out to ride more often, but my trips to the track are few and far between. Hopefully this will bring some people together, so my self included, can get out and ride with someone rather than solo.

This is from Lake Elsinore -
(Don't let the graphics and the air fool you, I'm not that fast  )
    cote_2.jpg

    Also had a stint riding DH. Traded a 2005 YZ125 for a 2011 demo 8, traded frames to a 2012 demo 8 and then traded that for a 2006 crf250r lol
This is the 12' frame configuration -

Yikes! I know wrist injuries, they suck. Shoulder not so much. Glad you're still on the bike and riding!

This left me with a good scar running up my wrist -
(Don't stick your hands out when you go over the bars off the side of a jump  )

I’m usually at Milestone. But I love Pala or Cahuilla. That’s where I meet my SD riding buddies when we go out. I’m down to ride most times.

I do pala most of the time with cahuilla as my second choice. Elsinore rarely. Pala is about 25 min from my house so it's the easiest.

    Game!

^^ I’ve only been in SD for a few years. Rode 212 and Barona, long story short: last trip to Barona stopped me riding for a couple years. Riden Elsinore twice, and that’s it. I’d really like to get out to Pala, Cahuilla and Milestone but damn everything is far from where I am. Wa a blessed in NorCal with a track 15 minutes from me.

    Brother! :fistbump:

Did you have yours removed after it healed? My doc had me take it all out after about a year.

Nope they left it in, I still have full mobility. Not sure if I agreed to leave it in or they did it was a while ago

That’s good! Mine was adamant about taking it out, could be because I was young (18) and told him I’d continue riding after. He was mostly concerned about another accident similar and that he would be able to rebuild the wrist again. I did physical therapy for awhile and have probably 90% mobility. The twisting back motion is a little poor so I overgrip a little more to compensate.

@eccracer104 @NormanPerez Pala is where it's at! My fave track. Its getting to be summer now so its only going to get hotter but if there is a day when the heat isn't too bad we should definitely plan a track day at Pala. Then do a Cahuilla trip after that. It can get pretty gnarly out there tho. I was at Pala 2 weeks ago and it was in the low 90's. Not very fun but still I was riding so it was ok ha

Just getting back into riding MTB. My current bike is a built 2005 Specialized Enduro FSR (no money for a new one...sigh). Recently did some runs for the first time at Sky Park at Santa's Village, had a blast, now it's time to do some upgrades!!
