Has anyone here run the Iron Chest Mine trail near Buena Vista, CO? With the fires burning between Durango and Silverton, and the resulting forest closures, I'm looking at alternate destinations for our early August trip (just in case). Iron Chest Mine looks like a lot of fun, and I wouldn't think twice about running it in our Jeep, but I want to see if anyone has experience running it in a Tacoma.

We're locked f&r on 33s, but do not have a winch.

    Thanks!

It's not very technical, the boulder field at the bottom is what gives it the difficult rating. 33s should get you up it without much issue.

Perfect! Thanks for the response. Looks like our rocker guards might get a workout.

Its a fun trail and has a cool overlook area at the end, you'll be fine with your setup. Sliders are useful here if you want to play on the bigger rocks.

Actually, I'd appreciate going with another vehicle, if we make it to the area. Haven't 'wheeled around BV since 2011. I'll certainly keep you posted.
