I can really use some help about tire size. I’m going with a 3” suspension lift it’s just shackle extension on the rear leaf and basically a bigger leveling kit up front. All my suspension was recently replace with the frame recall and these kits can use your stock shocks/struts. Here’s my major confusion. All I see is people saying that they can now fit 265’s now that they have a couple inches of lift. 265 I’d the stock size for mine. Can’t I at least put 285’s? Or something bigger than stock? What am I missing?? If it’s a stupid question, then just tell me. Otherwise, any help would be greatly appreciated

    Not Stock
265/75R16 is not the stock tire size. That's why you're confused

Yes you can put 285s on but they will likely rub if that's the only lift you have

    Good clarification.

265 is the width. Stock is 265/70-16 or 265-65-17 so a 265/75-16 or 265/70-17 are the same width but taller.

You also have the option of a 255/85-16 or 255/80-17 which is a 33” diameter but narrower and less of a chance of rubbing while still gaining the height and ground clearance.

Lift doesn’t help clear larger tires. You want to clear throughout the whole range of motion, so once you hit a bump and the tire gets pushed upwards, lift plays no role on whether or not you’ll rub.

To properly clear larger tires, it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll have to cut stuff out of the way.

I just put some 285/70-17 on SCS Ray 10s. I removed the front mud flaps and cut a tiny bit from the fender flare and I was good to go. FWIW I had 255/85-16 on the stock steelies previously and had virtually no rubbing (tiny bit at full lock but only in reverse, and I wheeled those pretty hard).

The problem with these questions is that your rims offset and alignment numbers as well as the specific tire choice will all impact your fitment.

And I only really want it for a more aggressive look. I don’t take it off road. Yes I am one of those guys. Sorry.

Stock wheels and 285 sized tires will require wheel spacers. They'll rub the UCA without them.

Man, you need to scrub that blue stuff off! Fresh white lettering looks so clean.

My dad passed away in February and he gave me truck a week prior. So really, I’m just looking to give it a little bit bigger and aggressive stance and do it on the less expensive side. Not looking to get it muddy. Just make it stand out a little more than a regular taco.

lol yea I tried on my last set with little success so I figured it would just come off over time.

I used warm water with regular car wash soap, and a stiff bristle brush. Came off super easy
