been looking on YouTube and here. I don’t see anything on how to remove the fender flares off my truck. I want to take them off so I can spray paint the ones I have now black but make it clean. Any ideas on how they come off would help out a lot.
    Thanks

It's really simple. Just did this to replace stock ones with aftermarket bushwacker ones. There is like 5 screws on the inner part of the flare (wheel well area) that need to be removed, then at the bottom of the front or back of them, just start pulling gently and you will pop the flare off the plastic pieces that hold it on, will also have to pull at top of flare since there is an adhesive holding the top of it to the fender.

Review the directions above in the link. Really simple process.

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m changing from sport flares to off-road flares. I keep hearing about double sided tape but im wondering if when people replace them do they replace the double sided tape of just say the hell with it and clip them on.

I would personally put whatever they have on back on. Don't want to see any flares torn off on the interstate.

From my understanding the double sided tape is only to seal the up... I sure hope double sided tape isn’t what holds them to the truck,I think the screws and clips do

Don't underestimate the strength of double stick tape, some airplane wings are held together with that stuff!

I'll back his post as the right steps to take. Remove the screws/bolts on the inner wheel well area (note that some flares have a screw at the very bottom piece of the flare... the part of the flare that folds under the fender). Once you have those out, choose an end to start from and begin to pry the fender off.

I completed the process you're about to undertake. The flares are held in place by blue and orange plastic clips and a lining of adhesive along a strip just underneath the top edge of the flares. Some of the adhesive will remain on the flare after pulling the flare off, while some will remain stuck to the truck. I opted to remove all residue of the adhesive and replace with clear double-sided 3M tape. I also purchased all new clips to install my Off Road flares. So mines are all sealed up. But it's all a matter of preference. You can reuse remnants of the existing adhesive and I'm sure you'd be fine. A lot of people damage the clips during the removal process. It's pretty hard not to. Some people just forego getting new clips and just use 3M to mount the flares back to the truck and it seems to hold up well. Again, it depends on what you're comfortable with.
