I think what would really help you decide is if you photoshopped your various choices onto your truck. Being so good at photography, I'm sure you know PS! Would be pretty fun too.

I may have to do that, thanks Randy!

I pretend to be good at photography but my girlfriend is the real photography pro and photoshopper! I just borrow her camera head when I play around with the truck :D

I may recruit her photoshop skills to help and will then post some pics for you all to provide some feedback.

Thanks for the info. I'm on the fence about replacing my Limited wheels and tires or just getting new tires for the 18" wheels. I don't need hardcore tires as 99% of my driving is on concrete commuting, so C-rated is the goal and the extra width isn't important to me. I was considering spacers if I keep the wheels, but still thinking about ideas. If you decide to sell the wheels, I'd like to be penciled in on the list of potential buyers. lol

Nothing wrong with spacers but I personally prefer to get offset wheels so the spacers aren’t needed. I also like more rubber which is why I’m drawn to 16s or 17s but there’s nothing wrong with the Limited 18s, they are good looking wheels!

I’m likely selling my current wheels and tires but it may be a month or so until I do the lift and new wheels/tires. I’d likely sell locally but you can always road trip down to sunny sourthern California!

Yeah, spacers weren't ideal, but maybe a little wider tire or beefy tread will improve the overall look. I'm definitely down for a road trip so I'll keep an eye on your thread. I'm not looking to buy anything today so the timeline isn't a big rush. Thanks for such a great build thread, it's been a fun follow.

Thanks! I’m glad you’ve liked it.

A lot more to come... :stirthepot:

I’ll definitely post the wheels and tires for sale on here once I switch them over

would you consider going to a 275 so you get just a smidge more rubber if the new rim is pushing you outward?

    Hello, friends!

I finally got a chance to make some updates to the build page. I've been away for work for 1.5 months so the Tacoma has been neglected.

Since the summer, I installed a Cascadia Flipster V2 front license plate frame, @FreshMexicanTaco DMM, @Logistics91 anytime rear camera kit, and went on several great offroading trips with friends. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other things. Now that we're in California, we're planning on putting the truck to use way more than we ever did in Florida. The Tacoma has some decent trail stripes now which go well with the bashes in the skid plate, sliders, and exhaust but that's what I was building the truck for all along!

More to come soon! @SCSPerformance F5 wheels are sitting in the garage. Later this fall, I'll be installing the OME lift and then the SCS wheels will be installed with 285 KO2s.

The first post of the build page is now fully up-to-date and there's more info and links below.

As of right now, I'm leaning towards 285 KO2s load range C. I've thought about going to 275s as well to avoid doing a CMC. I'm going to see how I feel once I get closer to doing the lift

If you're getting the OME lift that you describe on the front page, then you'll be able to run 285s easy. I have a buddy who runs the full OME kit will stock OR wheels, and rubs slightly on the UCA in tight turns. I have the same setup, but use Spidertrax spacers on my OR wheels and I have zero rub while avoiding all other modifications to clear the plastic or having to do the CMC.
