    Happy Father's Day dads!

What a privilege to be the father of three sons ( remember the old tv program "My 3 Sons?) With that privilege comes a tremendous responsibility to live as you would have them live. I think I did a better job later than in the beginning.

One thing is certain: I love them and they love me. Life is good!

So I've been piddling with this stand up jet ski.Got more done this weekend.Spent 3 hours with a cut off wheel cutting through 2 pieces of infused carbon with a mix of epoxy, thickener and carbon shards used to bond the top deck and hull. The bond areas have extra material so you can cut it off and clean it up.Wearing a full tyvek suit with hood, gloves, goggles and resperator.Dang and it was 87 yesterday here.Great way to lose weight :(
Also,to make sure this ski doesn't come apart,l lay a 2" wide carbon tape inside the engine bay.The guys that ride these skis to there full capabilities are jumping and dropping 15-20 feet at times. So you want to make sure they stay together.
I also hooked myself with a new 26 gal "quite" compressor yesterday. And she really is better than what l had.80 decibels!

Spent the morning with my dad at a local hot rod cruise-in. Facetimed with my son as we walked around. Told stories. Had a hamburger.

    Priceless.

Day late, but HAPPY Belated FATHERS DAY to all. Had a good day of just relaxing and doing nothing all day. Went out with a neighbor for dinner and early to bed(11:30 PM) :D. As I have said in previous threads, Hated being a Dad(had to be loving, disciplinarian and executioner all wrapped into one.) but I survived (and so did the kids LOL) and now being a Grand Dad was worth all the years of raising my kids. Those who still have their Dads with them, thank them every day. My Pop would have been 112 if he was still with us(died at 63 yrs. old.).

Thanks to all for the Fathers day wishes.

    Evening all:
Here they come ! Got an e mail from the internet sales manager at a local Toyota stealership asking about what I think on recent inquiries about buying a new Tacoma. They are going to have to work hard to get my money, VERY HARD, but will see once I make the decision to go shopping. If I can't make a somewhat reasonable deal I can walk without blinking an eye, done it before. I told him that since it's so late in the style year I will probably wait for the 2019's to come out, that might keep him off my back for a few months. I have a feeling I know what is going to happen, I won't be able to deal with them at all and will end up with a used one bought privately.
Just for S&G I checked on monthly payments for the full amount of a TRD Sport ext. cab, think it was almost $800 a month payment , I bet they would like to get me into that plan!

 is right Carl. That $800 is more than my mortgage. Bought mine new in 07 and sticker price was $21670. Now I have a new frame, good tires, new clutch(had it done when they did the frame), new front CV joints and boots, 78000 miles and maintenance is done regularly so I'm not even thinking about a new Tacoma  Still enjoy mine. Hope they hold off on you until the 19's come out.

Went out and prices a new Tacoma and wow the cost of a base Tacoma has gone up almost 9K in 9 years. Think I will keep mine.

They are already working on me to trade my 16 for a 18 . I kept my 04 for twelve years so I guess that means maybe I'll be ready to buy when they release the 5th gen.

    Morning all:
Tom, I don't even see the base regular cab Tacoma's like I have available anymore, only extended and double cabs, that in itself represents a decent price increase. I'm in no hurry to get rid of mine either, would like to have the extended cab on the next one, but I'm not at the "NEED" or "GOTS TO HAVE" point yet. The 4 Toyotas I have owned were all used, I have no problem buying good used vehicles from private sellers!
Just thinking, the last new vehicle I bought was a 1976 Golden Eagle CJ-5, listed for $6400 and paid $6000 for it! Aside from the 66, that's the only other new vehicle that I have ever owned, looks like the stealerships are going to have a tough time prying open my wallet, that's like them trying to get into Fort Knox!

I've had two brand new vehicles. My current Tacoma and an 85 Plymouth Turismo. The Plymouth was the worst vehicle I have owned by a large margin. Also the last American brand I owned. biggest reason I sold my 04 and bought new was safety. I also wanted 4wd tho.

I have a base EX cab. The single cab has been gone for 3 years now, I think.

When the 19's come out you can probably get a decent deal on an 18 but I would not wait too long. We did that for out 2017 Avalon.

    Afternoon all:
Was just browsing the local dealers on the puter, seems like there are some total discounts of $2200-3000 out there on what I'm interested it, maybe could get a little added to that! One thing I have noticed, I don't like the grill at all on the TRD sport, but like the one on the SR5, but I like the TRD look overall except for that darn grill! One thing at least, they aren't offering a ridiculous figure off of list like before, like I said----just looking and thinking about pulling the trigger. I have time, now that I'm thinking about getting a different truck I will, it's not if it's when!

Lots of aftermarket grills out there now that are pretty inexpensive.

Thought of that, or just get an SR5 grill.
Funny, I thought that all the Tacoma grills looked just fine until I saw the ones on the 18 TRD's, IMO that grill is one the ugliest they could have possibly designed, maybe I could just get used to it!

I just can't seem to care about the looks of any pickup trucks. Now this is a different story. Always wanted a Chevy made the same year I was ;)

    Morning all:
Not me, those 1947 Chevys were ugly! :D
Guys our age could have bought used 57's for $150-$850, lots of them around in 1964-1966 being driven by 16-18yr olds that had put 327's in them.
My one buddy had a hardtop in good shape, he offered it to me for $450, and that was in the middle 70's, maybe should have bought it!
A guy I knew had a 57 ragtop with the 270hp 283 in it, almost as rare and desirable as the fuel injected ones.
I had to wait until 1966 to find my fun car, what 17 YO wouldn't want a 66 Impala with a 425hp 427 in it, I liked it so much that I still have it! :D
